Keith is a widow whose 15-year-old daughter ran away from home and is living in Compton's household. Keith has had 5 illegitimate children since the death of her husband (when the daughter was quite young) and insists she is entitled to the help of the daughter, whom she has seen doing laundry and other household chores at Compton's home. Since the daughter refuses to come home, Keith's suit says that Compton must pay her weekly wages for any work her daughter does in his household.
