The plaintiffs owned a tract of land that they deeded to the defendant in exchange for another tract of land per a written agreement. However, Hickman Kile's son wrote the deed for the tracts of land to Archibald, which contained 15 to 20 acres more than the agreement stated. The plaintiffs did not realize the discrepancy until after they registered the deed. The plaintiffs sought correction of the deed in accordance with the original agreement. |

Amanda Hughes was the widow of William Hughes. James J. Maupin was Amanda Hughes son-in-law. He was married to her daughter. After the death of Amanda's husband, her daughter and son-in-law asked to move in with her and she allowed them to do so. Amanda stated that Maupin's treatment of her became so bad over time that she was forced to flee from her own home. She also accused him of cutting and selling timber from her land without permission and misusing her stock. She asked that the court eject Maupin. |

Benjamin Walker had been owner of a tract of land in Rhea county amounting to around 1,000 acres since July of 1873. Walker charged that the defendants trespassed upon his land cutting down timber, pealing away bark and hauling off to sell it for their own benefit and use. This was in unlawful violation of the rights of the complainant as lawful owner of the land. He asked for an injunction to prevent the defendants from trespassing on his land and cutting any timber or pealing back any bark. ET OV 15. |
