Hatcher said interest was past due; Owen said he'd forgotten, offered it to pay it then; Hatcher refused, said he was going to resign as guardian & ward's mom was thinking about qualifying. Hatcher remained guardian, but pla. (judgment creditor of Owen) sued to reach Owen's equitable interest. |

He sued to enforce his vendor's lien which he alleged Dowell knew about prior to her purchase & had agreed to discharge. |

Jacobs, father of plaintiff, bought several tracks from the Arnold estate. Plaintiffs sold a large tract of land to defendant in 1859 for $4896 and gave him title; this bill was filed to enforce plaintiff's lenders lien. Defendant claims he had no title at the time of sale, and that he had paid Arnold $900 & Jacobs $500. |

Lipscomb (age 88) witnessed O.H. signing note. In separate lunacy proceeding, Abel ruled incompetent; his child M.C. Smith appointed his guardian. Witnesses: Mary Smith (41), wife of Abel's son T.J.; W.H. Edens, Abel's grandson, O.H.'s nephew; Levi G. Smith, Abel's son; A.J. Grisson, Abel's grandson. Court ruled in Abel's favor; SC affirmed. |

Plaintiff admr. of Maggie Ransome, who died intestate in 1883. This case revolves around a $1,113.74 note that E. Young made payable to A.D. Fugitt. Fugitt then transferred note to intestate. Plaintiff sought to collect on this debt, plus other of $418. Defendant E. Young claims she was married at the time, so could not legally enter into or be bound to such a contract. Courts found for plaintiff and awarded $1532.50 plus costs. Note: Maggie Ransome was daughter of A.D. Fugitt & niece of E. Young. |

Brents, "influential & popular minister" in church, to procure stock subscriptions. Bashaw says Brents misrepresented purpose of proceeds & now trying to use money simply to improve the college.
