Asa and Eliza Teal had owned a tract of land for 7 years when Walker came one day claiming he bought the land and had a deed to it. Walker pressured Teal to sign a paper making him a tenant on the threat of being thrown out of his house. In pending case, Walker sued for unlawful detainer and to collect rents. Teal suing for injunction against Walker's suit and clear title to said land. This files contains many misc. deeds, notes, conveyances, etc. dating back to at least 1827. 2 folders. |

The defendant failed to inform them during negotiation that per an original contract, one T. Ashby held a lien on the mill and the defendant actually had no legal title to it, despite the plaintiffs paying a $720 note to Haslett. |

G.L. Ward & Vick, editor of newspaper at Liberty, came to Rock Island railroad station proposing to sell "sickle grinders" (aka mowing machine knife grinders) allegedly patented & designed to sharpen mowing blades. Hash agreed to buy grinders & exclusive right to sell them in Warren & White Counties & gave note to pay for same. Ward never delivered sickle grinders to Hash, but sold note to Cunningham (who had store in Rock Island w/grandson W.A. Moore), who sued to collect it. |
