Court of Chancery Appeals transcript. Court reversed Chancery Court ruling. Appeals court said defendants are owners of the land at issue because they adversely possessed the land for the period necessary to establish such ownership under the state grant to Hill & Sharp, through the possession of W. N. Campbell, lessee of Hill & Sharp. Plaintiffs appealed to TN SC.

Plaintiffs owned a tract of land. Butler K. Smith claimed he held a title to a portion of the land by deed from J. P. Denney. Plaintiffs here filed to dismiss this claim. Exhibits include several well drawn maps of the land in dispute located in MT OV 12.

View Entry 1898 John R. Maples v. A. R. Rawlings Knox Land and Title Dispute

Rawlings sued Maples for $134. In 1898 Maples bought a house making it his homestead. He then mortgaged it to Charles O. Ward, from who the house was purchased, although the deed named Cunningham. Maples was to pay Ward a total of $950, putting $200 down in cash. However, the judgment lien against Maples took precedence before his homestead, threatening him and his family with homelessness.

Additional Plaintiff: Jennie (Baccigalupo) Dunn, wife M. D. Dunn, dau. Vincent & Mary Baccigalupo (dec. 1878). Plaintiffs seeking to remove Heiskell as trustee of property owned by Jennie Dunn as share of her parents' estate. Trustee appointment arose from divorce proceedings instituted in AR against her 1st husband, Angello Marre, seeking to keep property out of his control. Couple later reconciled & tried unsuccessfully to remove Heiskell as trustee. After Marre's death she married M. E. Dunn.
