Brumit argues that he has contract to provide a depot for railway. Brumit owned some houses & vacant lots fronting Pine St in Elizabethton, & Southern Railway extended its tracks down the street directly in front of Brumit's property. Brumit argued for an injunction to prevent the Railway company from building further on the street.

This bill was filed to recover entry No. 511 in Morgan and Fentress Counties, and a reference of timber cut from the land. Opinion Only.

Case concerns a debt made by Walton Hill. Complainants claim that Hill shipped cotton to Abston, who then sold it. Complainants also claim they have a lien on the cotton for a debt owed to them by Hill for $525.00.

Maxwell, a CT resident, loaned Will Harr $2500 at 10% interest. Maxwell took as security, a deed of trust to on the "Harr Block" in Johnson City. Atty researched deed, finding one encumbrance stated in deed, but another appeared after the deed was given to Maxwell. Also, mechanics liens were discovered. Document fails to clarify Stuart's wrong doing.

No cover. Defendant claims he is owed money for work he has already done; plaintiff says they reduced his salary because he refused to accept their demands to sell a new product.

Court orders a land sale, of property unknown, and that Bettie McMillan and her husband to be paid out of a land sale. Incomplete case. See also boxes ET5.

Case deals with claim against the United States government for property destroyed by the Federal forces during the Civil War. Property that was destroyed belonged to Caleb R. Clement, deceased. His daughter and heir Rebecca Clement, deceased, was married to defendant, T. H. Lewis.

Will of G. W. Smith

Plaintiff sued to collect $465 debt & $114 in freight charges & court costs. In March 1893 parties in suit dealt in livestock & shipped 8 jacks to Belton, TX. After disposing of 5, plaintiff sold his interest in remaining 3 jacks to Arthur M. Knight & settled partnership with deft. After settlement deft. owed him $465 which he has refused to pay. Deft. has also refused to pay his share of freight charges to have a stallion & jack shipped back to Bells, TN.

The town of Johnson City had recently changed its tax collection policy, exempting land used only for farming from being taxed in anyway other than for building and maintaining roadways. However, the city then attempted to tax property used for farm purposes. This brief cites many similar, precedential cases from other areas.
