Plaintiff, executor of John P. Simmons, originally filed a bill against Rushing to collect a note for $100 executed by Rushing to J. P. Simmons in 1890. Rushing maintained debt was paid when he sold Simmons a mule Also mentioned: R. A., F. H., & L. (Ludie?) Rushing, sons of Able Rushing. Abel Rushing once lived in Cooter, MO. John P. Simmons died in Crockett Co., TN.

This convoluted case is important because it ended up in Shelby Co. Chancery Ct. having been tried in Lake Co. The appellees warn that it would be a dangerous precedent for a party to have the "right to attack and impeach the decision of a Chancery Court in this State." The case originated when the clothing store filed a creditors bill against Mrs. L. E. Fuller, Charley Frost & J. L. Fuller. The only mention of Lee is being the surety bond holder for Mrs. Fuller. The many defendants are companies.

Additional Plaintiffs: Glasgow Haywood, son James G.; John Richard & R. C. Watkins of Paducah, KY. James G. Haywood admin. of Dr. John Rush Watkins & his son, W. S. Watkins. Suit brought to recover total of $3,321 paid by W. S. Watkins as surety for defendant Killebrew. W. S. Watkins died testate in 1874; Dr. Watkins dec. 30 April 1891.

Additional Defendant: J. R. Blount. Plaintiff was security for firm of Stout & Raney which executed promissory notes to Bank of Savannah. Appealing judgments totaling $1,107.18 won against him & Stout & Raney which resulted in certain tracts of land that belonged to plaintiff being levied on and sold to pay judgment. Plaintiffs maintains original judgments were invalid. J. R. Blount Sheriff of Decatur Co.

Both defendants are sued Citizens Street Railroad Company for wrongs and injuries resulting from a disagreement on whether or not their tickets were valid.

Shaw originally sued railroad for under $500 in damages in the injuring of 2 of his dogs & the death of 1 dog named Mink.Plaintiff was part of a group of men hunting wolves. During the hunt the 3 dogs got on to the track & were struck by a train belonging to the company. Also named in case: D. D. Shaw, son of J. M. Shaw.

Plea of debt due by account under $500 involving the sale of two mules.

Cover is missing. Plaintiff says her overdue taxes were the result of a staff error. She claims that the deputy she spoke to when she arrived to pay her taxes for the year misinformed her about the amount due.

Sheridan wanted to recover a house & lot bought by his son at a tax sale. Defendant rejected that action, saying that the property was not legally advertised for sale. Depositions from J. F. Sheridan, S. H. Kernell, C. W. Heiskell, Katie G. Gilbert, George E. Neuhardt, and John J. Raggio. A couple staples could not be removed.

McCann was fined $25 for entering his saloon on a Sunday without written permission. Stated that he was there to obtain some whiskey for his bartender who was ill. A doctor had recommended spirits for the sick man. McCann entered the saloon a second time to obtain ice, again without permission & contrary to town ordinances. He stated he'd enter his saloon on a Sunday whenever he wished.

Train killed her husband, Thomas W. Davis

Plaintiff mother of C. E. Maxwell & former wife of J. W. Maxwell. sued railroad for $1999.99, charging negligence in the death of her son who was run over and killed by railroad cars belonging to defendant. C. E. Maxwell worked as brake man for L & N Railroad Co.; Mrs. Maxwell argues that defendant continually and knowingly assigned him unsound & dangerous cars to work on and go over. The Maxwells divorced December 1888.

Webb filed suit to collect damages for injuries caused by a defective sidewalk. He was awarded $4,000. Because the suit was filed in Wilson County, there is a question of jurisdiction.
