In a magistrate's court in Obion county, J. C. Burdick obtained a judgment against American Railway Express Company for $13.12 due to improper handling and refrigeration of a shipment of fish made by the firm to Perry Feed & Commission in Hazard, KY on 6/10/1923. Shipment was sent C.O.D. and was returned to Burdick on 6/12/1923. When shipment of fish arrived back in Union City on 6/14 it had to be dumped. American Railway Express Company is appealing in the Civil Court of Appeals. See docket 24766.

J. C. Burdick is sued for damages sustained by him on a shipment of fish he shipped via defendant's lines to O.D. Caplinger, Marion IL, 1/31/1923. The shipment was returned to shipper due to improper handling and refrigeration. Cost $15.00. See also docket # 24767 Appealed from the September, 1924 term of Circuit Court, Obion County. Tipton was charged with selling intoxicants within four miles of a schoolhouse.

View Entry 1924 State v. Welzie Wallace Obion Murder

2 folders. Elzie and Welzie Wallace are charged with striking, beating, and killing Will Charlton in August of 1923. The Wallace boys and Charlton were all fishermen. The Wallace boys found a boat seat that Charlton claimed was his. Charlton took it "out of the house where the Wallace boys had placed it and put it in his boat." The Wallace boys made some threats against Charlton before assaulting and killing him.

Perry Bright is noted as being "colored". Charged with shooting Bill Brown with a shot gun in December, 1923. Murder occurred at the train depot in Troy, TN.
