Woodson was an heir of James Walker, and recognized owner of one-half his plot of land. Jones sued to have Woodson's mother removed as heir in Simon Jones, et al. v. Hilda Walker. Woodson is asserting her legal right to half the plot. |

The Early-Stratton Company sued J. Kaufman for $680 damages "through the breach of a contract on the part of J. Kaufman." "J. Kaufman is a dealer in onion sets in the City of Chicago. He shipped Early-Stratton Co., of the City of Memphis, a car load, or 850 bushels of onion sets, Feb. 23, 1923, under a contract of sale." When the onions arrived, they were "inferior in quality, also greatly damaged by rotting and sprouting, oversize and not according to the contract specifications." |

"Henry Blount, a deputy sheriff of Hardin County, with one Arthur Kelly, about 9:30 at night in the early days of November, 1924, was out south of Savannah, about the old Burnt Stand, watching to see if he could catch some parties who were reported to be in the whiskey business." They heard some people "cursing" and went to investigate. One person took off on a horse but they were able to grab the bridle reins of Foust's horse. They found "fruit jars containing liquor" in sacks tied to Foust's saddle. |

Ed Cromwell, deputy sheriff of Hardin County, Sheriff Williams, Deputy Sheriff W. C. Berlin, Wayne Hall, and John Pipes were out south of Savannah searching for an illegal still. "When they got there a run had already been made and the still moved away." They heard shots and followed the sound to the public road. The defendant ran, they gave chase, and Foust fell on the ground. Cromwell grabbed Foust by the collar and picked up a "half gallon jug that contained white corn whiskey." |

Murdoc McDaniel died and partitioned his land among his seven children: Linville McDaniel, John McDaniel, J.T. McDaniel, C.C. Cierly, Ruth Gattis, Mary Rowsey, and Lucy Ann McDaniel. Lucy Ann was "weak minded" and required long-term care. Cierly provided support for Lucy Ann throughout her life. After Lucy Ann's death, Cierly sought to claim the land granted to Lucy Ann. J.T. and Rowsey were the only siblings to not sign off on the transfer of land. Housed in 2 folders. |

Supreme Court appeal briefs only. In original case, Jones was a real estate agent who got a right of offer on Fargason's property to the Southwestern Presbyterian University for a site for a college for $187,500. Defendant later revoked his agency without his consent. A deal was reached a few years later between the college and the defendant and the defendant paid the current agent a commission instead of the plaintiff. |

Cloud contracted to buy an "Indiana Gasoline Tractor and a double disc trip plow" from Dyersburg Vehicle & Implement Co. to be delivered to his farm in Crockett County. Cloud claims that he was induced to buy the tractor by the defendant who demonstrated "its capacity to do certain work." Cloud paid part of the purchase price up front and gave a note for the balance. The plow was never delivered and the tractor didn't work as demonstrated. Cloud seeks "to avoid liability upon the remaining note." |

Glover shipped a carload of hogs to market in IL using the M&O R.R. Glover asserts the shipment was delayed, and that his hogs were in bad shape after the shipment. One badly injured, one dead, and the rest suffered excessive shrinkage - causing a drop in market value for the hogs. |

Hamby did "unlawfully and carnally know one Leora Blakely, a female over the age of twelve and under the age of twenty one years." The case materials state that Leora was the daughter of Nathan Blakely. She was 18 years old and Hamby was 36 at the time of the trial. Leora gave birth to twins and placed them in the Leath Orphanage at Memphis. At the time of the trial, one of the children had died and the other was still at the orphanage. |

Tommie White, a witness in the case, testified that he worked at the cotton gin owned by J. S. Pratt in the Fall of 1923, when Robin Bailey brought in a load of cotton. White stated that Bailey was drunk and was not feeding the "cotton into the suction as fast as the gin requires." White started helping Bailey feed the gin. White stated that Bailey was drunk and that, at one point, he dragged a bottle down with the cotton. White stated the cotton was wet and smelled like whiskey. |

Wells entered into a written contract with Mary Raines in which he leased property from Jan. 1, 1917, to Dec. 31, 1920. He agreed in the contract to make certain improvements to the property. There was a provision in the contract for him to be paid for improvements he made if the land was sold during his lease period. The land was sold before his lease ended and he was not paid. |
