Plaintiff claims that the defendant as administratrix of the estate of C.D. Willis was indebted to the plaintiff for eighty five dollars.

E.W. Cruze purchased machinery from Beck and Conner Co. and issued five promissory notes to pay for the machinery. After making some payments on the machinery he stopped paying and machinery was repossessed. Beck and Conner & Co. are sued for money owed.

Additional defendants: Andrew J. Ely, W. D. & Carrie L. Capps, and Sylvia Capps. Additional plaintiffs: H. E. Sprankle. Plaintiffs had taken out a mortgage that was coming due and therefore took out a renewal note, however second mortgages fall under different regulations and the plaintiffs held that this was their first mortgage and that they had been extended as opposed to taking out a second mortgage. Exhibits include mortgage deed checks.

Additional defendants: Myrtle K. Aston, M.A. Arnold Jr., J. Harry Price, co-trustees, W.A. Degroat, W.M. Fulton, Fidelity Bankers Trust Co., Cumberland Trust Co., Knoxville Union Real Estate Co., and Aetna Casualty & Surety Co. Aston entered into contract with plaintiff who furnished lumber amounting to $7509.68. Plaintiff suing for debt and to enforce lien on land to satisfy the same. Related to case James E. Atkins, Trustee, et al. v. Herbert D. Aston et al. located in box ET 1320.

Plaintiff: Decatur Cornice & Roofing Co., a corp. in AL. Defendants: W. C. Terry, W. C. Terry Realty & Trust Co.- a Knox Co. business; Commercial Casualty Ins. Co., a NJ corp. Debt on acct., $1773.10, order of steel fabricated stairs made in Jan. 1929 for renovation @ Terry Apts. (Knoxville?).

Add. Def. T. M. Brownfield and J. H. Staley. Pla. is the owner and holder of two notes given to it by Johnson and Brownfield as collateral to another note which they executed directly to Pla. Pla. claims the notes remain unpaid, as is the debt which the notes were given to secure. Notes were secured by lien on property in the second Civil District of Knox County and recorded in the Register's office of Knox County in Deed Book 394, page 158. Casefile contains loan documents and checks.

Pla. is Trustee of Tri State Fruit Co. which filed for bankruptcy in 1929. Lester Shipley is the agent of General Motors Truck Co. Pla. accuses the def. of failing to pay for two trucks purchased from Pla. Casefile notes that the Tri State Fruit Co. agreed to purchase a new General Motors Model T-21 truck for $1,695 with the stipulation that Shipley pay $700 for 2 older trucks owned by the Fruit Co. Def. claims Pla. violated their contract by refusing to pay for and take possession of the new truck.

Add. Def. W. T. Ross, Eckel S. Ross, Rachael Ross, Mary Nelle Ross, C. C. Ross and Lassie Ross, all children of W. T. Ross, A. W. Mays trustee, the Federal Land Bank of Louisville, and James B. Davis trustee. Pla. is seeking payment for a note due in the sum of $1500. Pla. claims Ross fraudulently executed a trust deed, recorded in the Knox County Register’s Office in book 433 page 1, to A. W. Mays in order to defeat their claim.

Add. defendants: Floyd E. Haun & George L. Ogdin, both cashier officers of the bank. The defendant had advertised itself on its qualifications and ability to make sound investments, advanced by F. E. Haun. Pla.'s husband, G. R. Williams, died & left the plaintiff his estate, which she put in the hands of F. E. Haun, who guarunteed its protection. Haun later left and the bank denied having any of the Pla.'s funds and concealed their affairs. Suing for $2,401.78 with interest.

Plaintiff was a partner in the Putnam Construction Co. which is now out of business. Plaintiff claims that the Def. is indebted to the Putnam Construction Co. for $1231 and is seeking payment.

Caughron is indebted to the Def. in error to the sum of $14,187 as evidenced by 4 promissory notes. 2 notes are past due and Pla. is seeking the full amount. J. C. lives on a farm known as J. C. Caughron's Home Farm on Allensville Road in the 15th district of Sevier County. Exhibits include: maps, receipts and loan documents.

Nina Sterchi, exe. of W. H. Sterchi, dec.; Deceased indebted to Wrey for $2,500 for legal services. Ex A: copy of will; Ex 23: memo from Wray to Mrs. Sterchi; Ex 7: agreement document between Sterchi and Wray and Certificate of Incorporation; Ex 3-22: checks made payable to Wray from Sterchi.

2 folders. Add. Def. United States Fidelity and Guaranty Co. Def. Jones entered into an agreement with Young and Stoner, a contractor, to build a house on Church Street in Sweetwater, Tennessee. Said contractor applied to the Pla. for building supplies. Pla. refused to issue credit to the contractors but granted it to Jones directly. During the building of the house, said contractor filed for bankruptcy. Pla. then sued Jones for payment. Jones claims contractor should be liable for payment.

Lenoir City created Improvement District 8 within its limits. Lenoir City sued Boggs to recover $279.16 and $3609.15 for assessments and improvements on 2 properties and sought a lien on said land to satisfy the debt. Exhibits include: 7 photographs of J.B. McCalla & Co. Assessment Rolls for District 7 of Lenoir City, TN and Street Improvement specifications and proposal for Lenoir City. 2 folders.

Add. Def. J. D. Nave, J. M. Folsom and J. M. Moreland. The Def., conducting business under the name of Ketron-Nave Motor Company, are accused of being indebted to Pla. for the financing of a car. Def. sent a check for the balance due but it was returned. Casefile discusses various types of automobile financing and contains finance records.

Additional defendants: M.A. Duggins and L.A. Cross. Plaintiff had deposited $5000 into the Bank of Oliver Springs who executed a certificate of deposit, which was endorsed by the defendants who became liable to the plaintiff for the same. The Bank of Oliver Springs failed and was being liquidated. The reciever made payments on said certificate from time to time but $1500 remained due, which defendants had refused to pay, therefore the Peoples Bank sued. 2 folders.

Ex. mat.: Tax records, receipts, Oversize Tax Return, letters, memos, notes, etc. Pltf. and dfnt. were partners in a merchandise brokerage. The dfnt. claimed all bus. trans. and profits as individual property, excluding pltf. from his share of the profits accrued by said business. In 2 folders. Oversize exhibit in WT OV 7.

The complainant sold a tract of land belonging to him to the defendant for 35,000 dollars. The defendant paid 5000 dollars of this in cash but executed three notes for the remaining amount. The note is past due.
