Williams applied for a $10,000 life insurance policy through defendant and sent a check for the premium of $141.30. The check was sent back by defendant who wanted plaintiff to send back policy. Issue with timing of Williams' health (he was healthy when he applied for policy but was sick when he sent in check and for next 6 months). Williams suing for defendant to restore or reissue said policy and for $600 in disability benefit as if policy had been in full effect. Exhibits include policy. 2 folders. |

Miller had purchased merchandise from Buladeen Supply Co. and had issued 2 policies with the def. to protect himself from loss due to fire. Not due to any carelessness or negligence and when policies were in effect, his entire stock worth $2150 was lost to fire. His loss was considerably more than policies. Pla. The plaintiff had a policy with the defendant for fire insurance on a certain automobile for$600, paying a monthly premium of $10.50. In 1930, the sedan was destroyed by a fire, causing a loss of $800. Per the policy, the defendant owes the plaintiff $534 that they refuse to pay. Suing for $1,000 for loss and damage by fire, fees, and 25% of the amount insured as penalty for a breach of the policy. |

Addtl pltf: Lucile Duemler. Addtl dfnts: The Fidelity & Casualty Co. of New York. Pltfs. brought action under the Workmen's Compensation Law of Tennessee. A. J. Bledsoe was killed under the employment of dfnt. and en route to work when he died. Attempting to avoid driving over downed powerlines in a storm, Bledsoe stepped of his truck to remove them and was instantly electrocuted. His mother and sister are pltfs., sought benefits over estranged wife, Rosolie Bushey, and sued for payment from dfnts. |

Pltf. sued to recover $1,000 on a life ins. policy with dfnt. Pltf's husband, Lytle B. Bingham, was a Cashier at the Hardin County Bank. On the night of Jan. 14., Lytle had his brother, Howard Bingham, remove all the cash on hand at the bank and deliver it to him. Lytle claimed business in Jackson, and left home around 9 p.m. On TN Hwy. 5/US 45 between Saltillo and Jackson, something happened, and Lytle was found burned in his car under mysterious circumstances. 2 folders. Pla.. sued to have the insurance policy of Dillard Barnett paid to her as she is his beneficiary. Barnett took out the policy with the deft. in 1922. In 1923 he left TN for VA. Pla.. & his relatives have not heard from him since & cannot locate him. Pla.. has continued to pay the premiums on the policy. Deft. maintains that it has not paid because pla.. has failed to provide proof of Barnett's death. It is suggested that Barnett may have been ill with tuberculosis when he left TN. |

Court of Origin is the Law Court at Johnson City. Pla. in error was sued by the Def. in error who was seeking the payment of a policy due to him. Pla. in error argues that the paralysis suffered by the Def. in error is not covered by said policy. Pla. in error also notes that the Def. in error is now able to walk several miles at a time. Def. in error allegedly suffers from an illness called Jake Leg which is contracted after drinking an intoxicant known as Jamaica Ginger. |

Cooley issued a life insurance policy for her husband, John Harvey Cooley for $10,000 with a provision that they would pay double the face amount of the policy ($20,000) to the beneficiary in the event of the accidental death of the insured. Cooley extended due date of premium through note, so she charged that the policy was in full effect at the time of her husband's death. Pla. Suing for $20,000. The defendant had an insurance policy with the defendant for $1,500 of coverage on his house, barn, and all of the property within. In 1926, the plaintiff's barn caught fire and it and all its contents were destroyed. From the proof of loss, the plaintiff claims that $500 should be secured on the barn, but the defendant refuses to settle with the plaintiff, even after several attempts. Plaintiff filed to recover the $500 covered by his policy. |

Madison sued the Southern Surety Company for non-payment of a $1000 accident policy. Madison's husband, J. M. Madison, was shot and killed on September 24, 1929, by George White. She claimed the policy should cover accidental gun shot wounds. The insurance company claimed the shooting was intentional. George White and J. M. Madison are both described as "negro" in the case materials. |

Pla. Was composed of A.J. Bachman, R.B. Bachman, and Mary Irwin. A.J. Bachman and defendant's deceased husband, G.H. Mauk, were once partners of said mill. Both applied for life insurance of $5000 with the Travellers' Insurance Co. of Hartford. Mauk sold his interest and his insurance policy to mill. A.J. Bachman gave policy to def. Mauk on condition that she would collect for benefit of partnership, but instead she refused to give the money over. 2 folders. |

Day sued the insurance company for $3500 due her on an insurance policy on the life of her husband, Ruby Houston Day. Her husband was killed by T. Earle Robertson who suddenly went insane and killed 4 people while they were working at J.W. Bell Milling Company. The insurance company refused to pay double indemnity, therefore Day sued. |

Higgins sued the defendant to recover $3000 due him from insurance policy. His house was destroyed by fire and despite demanding payment of said losses from defendant, they refused to pay. Defendant cancelled said policy but because defendant failed to make payment within 60 days, the plaintiff believed he was entitled to recover a penalty not exceeding 25%. 2 folders. |

Additional defendant: First National Bank of Chattanooga. In 1919, the defendant delivered a life insurance policy to the plaintiff and his wife, Beula Roberson, who died shortly after. The plaintiff surrendered both policies to one Charles L. Lee, an agent of the defendant, who declined to pay the value of the policy upon the life of the plaintiff, stating that it had no cash value. He later learned the policy had a cash value of $145.09 from premiums. The bank later made a check, but it never came. |
