Fuller was tried and found guilty of assaulting John C. Cox and attempting to commit voluntary manslaughter. An argument took place when Cox's friends Wright and Davis forced Fuller off the road--Fuller admitted that his car was undamaged, but that the incident did "irreparable injury to his feelings." Fuller pursued the two, but they cut him off again. By then Fuller was so agitated that he "applied to the occupants of the Ford an epithet suggesting canine maternal ancestry." |

Car found at Case's Road House (run by Ab Case, wife) on McIntyre Rd. Shorter indicted for grand larceny, convicted of receiving stolen goods. Incomplete case. 2 briefs only. Painter was charged and convicted of keeping and permitting to be played a slot machine called Mills Baseball Machine. He was guilty of a misdemeanor and fined $10. Painter had moved for a new trial, which was overruled, and then appealed. Question as to whether the machine should be considered a gambling device as it dispensed mints and "amusement chips." Also mentions dismissed case State v. Raymond Stumb for "gambling" on said machine. |

Thomas was convicted of shooting Clifford Lomax to death. Tom's wife Ella testified against him. She said that their acquaintance "Cliff" had come to the house asking for a drink of whiskey, but she had none. After a while, Ella told him he'd better go because "Bubber" (Tom) might kill him if he caught Cliff there. (Cliff appears to have been African American.) Ella became aware that Tom was home and that he had a pistol. She was afraid he would kill her, too. Bubber shot Cliff, who lingered and died. |
