Case regards the alleged warranty on a secondhand 2-drum hoist left over after completion of the Waterville Dam. A. Glazer and Philip Chasen (Chazen) were partners in the iron and metal company that dealt in the loading and unloading of scrap metal. Exhibits include two ETI & M drafts payable to Pasadena Supply Co. and drawn on an account at The City National Bank, Knoxville. Check includes a nice engraving of the bank. Plntff. widow & admr. of of Dr. Ernest B. Bowery, who died on 7 April 1931 of injuries suffered in an automobile accident. On 5 Aug. 1930 Dr. Bowery took out a $10,000 life insurance policy with Southern States Life Insurance Co. which was later taken over by the deft. which has refused to pay the plntff.'s claim. Plntff. filing suit for $10,000 plus interest & penalties. Deft. argues it has no liability as Dr. Bowery died by his own hand. It is suggested that he was heavily in debt. 2 Folders. |

Cordell sued Wright for $499 for breach of contract and Wright made a counterclaim against Cardell for $297.74, the amount overpaid to Cordell on the contract. Cordell was contracted to cut and deliver lumber to the TN, Coal, Iron & Railroad Co. at Shell Creek for $19 per thousand feet of lumber. Court ruled in plaintiff's favor for $463.39 damages for his failure to pay. Wright appealed. Exhibits include receipts showing different lengths and amounts of lumber and checks to Cordell. 2 folders. |

Newton-Chevrolet in Chattanooga, trading in his old truck for partial credit against purchase price of new truck, with balance to be paid in installments, but when Thompson defaulted on 2 pymts, Defendants took truck back. Thompson sued, alleging Defendants failed to comply with conditional sales law & converted truck to their own use when they resold it after repossessing it. Thompson was partners with Fred Dicus, negro, in the transfer business. |

Daniels died 16 Nov. 1930. Plntff. sued the deft. for $6,250 for breach of contract because it refuses to allow her claim. Deft. argues the claim was refused because U. G. Daniels did not reveal that he suffered from pleurisy & other health problems when he first applied for the policy. 2 Folders. |
