Mabel Evatt by next friend C. M. Evatt. Add Def: C. M. Evatt. Two cases tried as one. Mabel Evatt is sued the City of Chattanooga for personal injuries stemming from a car accident where East 10th Street terminates at the right-of-way of the C. N. O. & T. P. Railway. The car went over an embankment and into the railroad yard. C. M. Evatt, the father of Mabel, sued for the loss of service of his daughter and expenses incurred. The car was driven by Paul Weathers who may have been drinking. |

The plaintiff was employed by the Cherokee Motor Coach Co. working as a relief driver of a bus. He was riding on the top of the bus when he was caught under the chin by a low-hanging wire extending across the highway. The force hurled him from the top of the bus onto the pavement, resulting in great injury. He had a fractured skull and pelvis bone and injured back and spine from which he will never recover. The Natural Casualty Co. refuses to pay any insurance on the accident. |

John Haupt, a minor, sued Bradley County Sheriff Ovie J. Lawson and National Surety Company after the boy was shot for fleeing an arrest on trespassing charges. Haupt had hopped a Southern Railway freight train on its way to Cleveland when he was caught. As he fled, a deputy drew his revolver and shot John. Bullet jacket and slug have been bagged and filed with the court case. X-rays and a sketch of the rail yard also entered into evidence. File consists of two folders. Add. Materials in 1520. |

Christopher sued on the basis that coal operator negligence resulted in his serious injury. While he was riding in a miner's "man car" to the bottom of the mountain, brakemen either carelessly lost control of the car or the brakes were already defective. Cases grew out of a collision between a Texas Company oil truck and an automobile driven by Roy K. Murphey. His parents were guests in the car. The Murpheys also sued J. D. Kreis.
