Taylor was married with six children when he was convicted of violating Vege McAlister when she was 12-13. Their relations began in 1929 and ended in 1931 when her people learned of it. Taylor admitted to intercourse, but not to paternity of Vege's child. Counsel (former governor) Ben Hooper charged that she was a "bawd, lewd, or kept female" who also had relations with Hugh Hance and Carl Taylor. Lawyers also argued Vege's identity based on different spellings of her name, e.g., "Verge McAllister." |

Plaintiff in error and Oliver Gadd are accused of participating in the robbery and attempted murder of E. A. Jenkins. Jenkins was crossing a bridge when he noticed two men standing on the other side. According to Jenkins, one of the men pointed a pistol at him and he immediately ran. The bridge was under construction and the plaintiff in error was the night watchman. During the night of the incident, the pla. in error claims it was Jenkins who pointed at pistol at him. |

Alex McKinney, aka Eleck McKinney, is charged with feloniously assaulting W. M. Street with a shotgun with intent to commit murder. Both the plaintiff and the victim live in Roan Mountain, Tennessee. A day before the incident, Street, a deputy sheriff, had captured a still and whiskey which he believed belonged to the Pla. in error. The next day as Street was passing through Roan Mountain, he was shot in the back by someone who he identified as the Pla. |

Silverman charged with violating Ordinance No. 1429 on 16 Oct. 1930 by "indulging in acrobatic flying" over the municipal airport (Lovell Field) while piloting an airplane. Question as to whether city can legally enforce this ordinance as it regulates the operation of aircraft within the city's jurisdiction. The airport is 2 miles outside Chattanooga's corporate limits & at the time of the incident the city had no ordinance regulating the operation of aircraft over its airport. |

Plaintiffs in error, along with Sam Horn, Henry Horn and Mrs. Henry Horn, are accused of shooting Victor Widener to death. Paul, Sam, and Curtis Horn are the sons of Henry and Nannie Horn. It appears that the victim lived on Horn's land and had a relationship with Elise Horn, daughter of Henry and Nannie. The victim had a baby with Elise (5 years before his death) while married to another woman, causing tension between the parties. |

Grant Young was originally charged alongside Brogan in the rape of Louisa [Eliza/Elisa] Lamb, but his name has been scratched off the title page. Both were sentenced to twenty years in prison. The jury later said that the 20-year penalty was too harsh-- owing to their not realizing a lesser sentence was possible. The case contains descriptive testimony including the victim's. Will Cummings is a County Judge in Hamilton Co. Hays Clark is the Clerk of the Criminal Court of Hamilton Co. and Charles Taylor is Sheriff of Hamilton Co. Has Clark filed a petition in the Criminal Court under the provisions of the Salary Law of 1921. Petition was asking for authorization to pay a salary of $250.00 per month to one of his deputies and $250.00 per month to another and asking to hire another deputy. The court agreed to this but then the county revenue dropped off and things changed. |

John Haupt, a minor, sued Bradley County Sheriff Ovie J. Lawson and National Surety Company after the boy was shot for fleeing an arrest on trespassing charges. Haupt had hopped a Southern Railway freight train on its way to Cleveland when he was caught. As he fled, a deputy drew his revolver and shot John. Bullet jacket and slug have been bagged and filed with the court case. X-rays and a sketch of the rail yard also entered into evidence. File consists of two folders. Add. Materials in 1520. |

Suit predicated on the theory that two Becker employees (identified as servants), Bethel Black and J. N. Jamieson, conspired to falsely charge Parker with housebreaking, larceny, trespassing, loitering, or some other crime. Black, acting on Becker Company orders, lured Parker to the Becker warehouse where a policeman was waiting to make the arrest. Parker refused to enter the warehouse after telling Black that he and manager Jamieson were "on the outs." |

Testimony was sworn that Buster Dennison rushed to the Senter home "upon a mule and told your defendant that the Raines's [sic] had killed Willie, a son of the defendant; that they had knocked his brains out…." Willie's fight was with Horace Raines. Also involved were Bill Pierce and the Senter sons Pless and Rabbit. |

Minor child Virgil Howard Cantrell, 12, was riding in a school bus operated by H. E. Hudson when Hudson stopped, causing the boy to be thrown out the open emergency door. Virgil was said to have suffered great physical pain and anguish; he died a few hours later. Photographs of the bus and road were introduced as evidence.
