Matthews' family ran a filling station "at the intersection of the Jackson and Bolivar road, what is known as the Steam Mill Ferry Road." After midnight on the night of May 31, 1931 a car of men drove up to a neighboring gas station, and before they left fired a shotgun blast at the Matthews' station, hitting the door jamb in which Joe was standing. Jones was indicted for first degree murder, but the cover says it was second degree. Decedent was listed as Troy Lockhart, shot and killed July 19, 1931. Jones ran a bar of sorts from his home. On the 19th, Jones asserted Lockhart "blackguarded before my woman and kids" the day before. This led to an argument between the men, during which Jones shot Lockhart, the wound eventually killing Lockhart. Housed in 2 folders. |

The Hills: Henry, Lena, Jessie Lee, J. C., Alfred, and John Allen, were sleeping in their home when they were attacked by group of men in the middle of the night. The Hills were African American.The group shot out all of the windows in the home, and fired shots at the family, striking Lena and four-year old John Allen. Hill identified R. C. Melson, Lee Melson, "another gentleman, his cousin, little white boy called Sooner...Will Reid, Tump Givens, and Vincent "Preacher" Comer" in the group. In 4 folders. |

Woods was accused of killing Sarah Boyette in the first degree. Only once was dfnt. listed as Ed Woods, col. Witness stated, Boyette was stabbed in two places and beaten so severely her eye had to be sewn back in, her teeth were missing, and the back of her skull busted. Decedent was African American, too. She was last seen in an argument with dfnt., and leaving along the train rails. Her body was found on the tracks with blood over various rail elements. Housed in 2 folders. |

Taylor is seeking a divorce from Madison Taylor on the grounds that she became pregnant by another man without his knowledge or consent. Pla. and Def. carried on a sexual relationship while the Def. was under age. The sister of the Def. charged the Pla. with a violation of the age of consent law. It was then agreed to the Pla. and Def. would marry. Pla. quickly left the Def. and Def. charged the Pla. with non-support. |

In 1926, agents of the defendant entered the plaintiff's premises and cut down several shade and ornamental trees and trimmed others back so much that they died as a result. After arriving at Martin's house, they searched him and found four bottles of whiskey in his pockets and three bottles tied under his belt. He was charged with possession of intoxicating liquors. |

Def. in error was an employee of the Richmond hosiery Mill of Rossville, Georgia. The Pla. in error issued a Master Group Life Insurance Policy to said employer. When she purchased said policy, the Def. was 61. Because of her advanced age, she asked the insurance agent if she would still be covered and he assured her that she would. The Def. proceeded to pay her premiums. When she became disabled, the Pla. refused payout. Case file includes a copy of said insurance policy and correspondence. |

Plaintiff is the administrator of the estate of Thalmas Miller (dec'd), who was employed by the defendant as a crusher in the quarry. He was helping load stones onto cars to be crushed as they were pulled up by a cable. The cables were in poor condition and one broke, sending the loaded cart off the track and struck the deceased, crushing him and causing fatal injuries. Plaintiff states the defendant should have known about the weak cables and sued for damages in the sum of $25,000. |

This is a suit to recover the amount paid on an automobile under a conditional sales contract, on the grounds that said automobile was repossessed and not advertised and sold according to law. Lambert purchased a Whippet Sedan for the price of $406 but quickly defaulted on his payments. The car was repossessed by Mahhan Kerr Motor Co., and according to them, advertised and sold. Lana Lambert is the wife of W. C. Lambert. Exhibit material includes payment stubs, sales contract and bank correspondence. |

Walter C. Kennedy is sued the Life and Casualty Ins. Co. for $630 which is the amount he is due as the beneficiary to his wife, Willie B. Kennedy's, life insurance policy. She died as a result of childbirth. The insurance company argues that the policy is void because Mrs. Kennedy was pregnant at the time she took out policy and did not reveal that fact and that they policy is void if death occurs as the result of pregnancy. |

Park Hughes, a minor, sued by next friend G.W. Hughes for $52.36 damages to 324 pounds of leaf tobacco that were exposed to water leaks while stored in defendant's warehouse. Judgment rendered in plaintiff's favor for $29.16. Martha Hughes suing defendant for the same reason but for 310 pounds of leaf tobacco and asking for $51.73 damages. She received a judgment for $27.72 Defendant appealed for both. |
