Hunt originally charged with contempt of court for failing to appear as a witness for the State against Arthur Smith, charged with larceny, on 28 Sept. 1933. Hunt argued that every time he brought the defendant to court he was released which implied that the City preferred him free to repeat his crimes. Defendants Arthur Smith, Fred Smith, & LeConner Hodge described as "small Negro boys" often brought into court on charges of larceny or burglary. |

Gass sued Tennessee, Alabama & Georgia Railway Co. for refusing to pay for 90 cross-ties that it had ordered from him. The cross-ties were to be delivered (at about 500 a month) to the right-of-way of the railroad where they would be inspected & "taken up" as needed. The 90 missing cross-ties disappeared before they could be inspected & "taken up". Gass argued that title to the ties passed to the railroad upon delivery & he should be paid for them. |
