Loretta Hinkle Markland died in 1942, & Elliott sued on behalf of all of her heirs to settle the estate. Her husband, Frank Markland a life estate, specifically noting that he had no power to dispose of any portion of her bequest. She was the widow of John Grindstaff from whom she inherited a large estate. Following Frank's death, Elliott was to inherit half of the estate, & the rest to be divided among the other heirs. Frank filed a dissent stating he was going to take the entire estate. |
