In a previous suit, Frederic Uhl successfully sued Peter Turney and was awarded a judgment of about $300. Greer was his bonded surety. Turney did not pay the judgment, and then died. Greer sued Turney's estate, of which Williams was the executor, in order to settle the debt. |

In 1812, Wright gave Sullivan a note for the for three hundred bushels salt in partial payment of a plot of land. Later, the two disagreed about the value of the salt, and what the remainder of the debt should be. Suit was filed to settle the transaction. |

In ~1837, the plaintiff, an unincorporated body of about 75 members, procured a small tract of land on which to build a house of worship. The church maintains that the land was donated in two parcels, by John Harper & James Pope who had adjoining farms. Defendant's father had purchased the Pope farm, now inherited by J. B. Norris. Defendant said to have moved fences to incorporate the portion of land Pope donated for church use - without the benefit of a deed issued; plaintiffs sought to attain title. |

Miles Bradley, referred to in the case as "colored," was accused of breaking into the store house of H. B. Oliver and R. A. Mann in order to commit grand larceny. In 1877 Bradley allegedy broke a store window, belonging to the firm of Mann & Oliver. Bradley was found and arrested, but he resisted arrest. Includes description of store stock, as well as Bradey himself. |
