Charles Morgan ran a plantation in Kentucky. Jeremiah Morgan, dec. executed a contract to sell half of a plot of land to Charles Morgan. Jerimiah then died leaving a wife, Mary, and heirs Armistead & Susannah. The issue with the land was not settled when Jeremiah died, so this suit was filed to settle the rightful land ownership. In 1792 Turnbull obtained a judgment against Robertson for $575 concerning a land sale. Elijah Robertson then died, and his heirs were involved in multiple suits like this one in order to settle his estate, debts, and legally finalize land ownership. Exhibits include an original land grant. |

In 1808 Hooker sold Phillips 599 acres of land. However upon close inspection the land was found to have a different amount of water available than previously expected. In order to make an exception for this discovery, Phillips requested to pay less. The suit sought to settle the disagreement over the land sale. |

Trammel, Askey & Mauldin sued Overton over a tract of land located on the Elk River. Some of the documentation was from Logan County, Kentucky where Askey was living. Although much of the documentation was recorded by hand, a few papers are well executed letterpress blanks filled in by the circuit court clerk. |
