Martin Whitford sold David Anderews a cow, a bed, a certain parcel of corn then growing, for $132. However, Whitford had business in North Carolina & asked that the chattel be left in his family's care until he returned. Before taking possession of the land and Chattel, Andrews asked that the deal be broken. Whitford said he destroyed the bond, but then Sawyers sued Andrews to recover the debt on the bond. |

Plaintiff states that the defendant's business was to makes bets with customers on the rise and fall of certain commodities. Plaintiff complains that his transactions with the defendant were illegal gambling contracts and is now seeking a return of the money he lost. |

Edward Sanders hired an enslaved man, Abraham, from John Camp, paying with a note for $100. Shortly after Abraham became sick and was not able to work. Abraham went to the house of Miss Hope, where his wife lived. Sanders sued to recover the value of his note. |

This dealt with Confederate treasury notes which was used in exchange for bank note in February 1862. The Union Bank of Tennessee would not honor the notes. The laws of War were in place which prevented payment of note. One year later the note was presented to a New Orleans Bank and they would not honor it either because it was Confederate notes. There was money in the bank to honor the notes, but in September, 1863 the U.S. Military authorities removed the money. |

The land and patent rights were exchanged, then Turner discovered that he was defrauded by the trade. |

Defendant is a streetcar company that applied & gained permission from Plaintiff to lay down tracks on certain city streets in Nashville. The streetcar co.'s were responsible for paving between & immediately around tracks with same material as street. When Church St. was to be changed from a macadamized road to Belgium pavement, defendants refused to make the necessary improvements around their tracks; plaintiff sued for $10,000 expended. Defendant is a company comprised of T. P. Green, M. Shafner, & William Cooper. In 1885, the parties entered into a contract for the plaintiff to sell and deliver to the defendants two million feet of yellow poplar logs free from defects. Def. advanced him $1,275. After the logs were measured, a majority were washed away in a tide on the river and the defendants fraudulently changed the wording of the contract without plaintiff's knowledge to make him liable for the lost logs and monetary advance. |
