The Tennessee Brokerage Association was a futures dealer (Bucket Shop) comprised of S. H. Bell, J. A. Bishop, and Adolph Blitz. Plaintiff states that the defendant's business was to makes bets with customers on the rise and fall of certain commodities. Plaintiff complains that his transactions with the defendant were illegal gambling contracts and is now seeking a return of the money he lost.

Edward Sanders hired an enslaved man, Abraham, from John Camp, paying with a note for $100. Shortly after Abraham became sick and was not able to work. Abraham went to the house of Miss Hope, where his wife lived. Sanders sued to recover the value of his note.

Cahoon, as agent for Jedidiah T. Turner, who had obtained a US patent for a threshing machine, made a contract with Drake, William Christy, & Charles Fishbach to trade land for rights to the patent. The land and patent rights were exchanged, then Turner discovered that he was defrauded by the trade.

Defendant is a streetcar company that applied & gained permission from Plaintiff to lay down tracks on certain city streets in Nashville. The streetcar co.'s were responsible for paving between & immediately around tracks with same material as street. When Church St. was to be changed from a macadamized road to Belgium pavement, defendants refused to make the necessary improvements around their tracks; plaintiff sued for $10,000 expended. The dispute involved the cost of constructing a foundation for engine boilers built by defendant. Exhibits include blueprints.

Bell & Hare were partners in running the hotel with Mr. Bledsoe until the latter left the business in Jan 1868. In April, they changed their agreement, DBA S. E. Hare & Co. though Hare acted as an agent for Bell, whom owned the hotel. Bell borrowed money from Hare mortgaging the furniture & fixtures of the hotel as surety. The suit was filed the clarify the financial equity each party had right to. 2 folders.
