Crabtree and Calvin Marcum are charged with murdering John Murphy by shooting him with a gun. Murphy and Crabtree were having a shooting contest for whiskey when the two began arguing. The initial shot went through Murphy's ear but did not kill him. It was several minutes before the second deadly shot occurred. Crabtree is arguing self-defense. In the witness testimony there are several references to Murphy holding a masonic lodge. |
