Davidson was charged with malicious stabbing and originally sentenced to two years in prison. Cornelius Nicholas' testimony states that he & his brother had visited the Davidsons about going to Jamestown on an errand. Things became unfriendly & they began name calling, when Milton Davidson stabbed one of the Nicholas's in the shoulder. |

Samuel Russell testified that he was at Lemuel Sutton's house when "Brother Andrew & a negro" Jordan Holt, (see MT 9 State V. Jordan Holt) were quarrelling. Russell took Andrew around the building, & were followed by Holt, George Gannett, & Jones, all black. Jones attacked Andrew & Russell defended him when Jones allegedly stabbed Russell; Russell stabbed him back in the shoulder. |

John Johnson, Elizabeth Johnson, and Charles Clark, each referred to in the case as "colored," as accused of assaulting Patrick Saunders with stones, bricks, and rocks in an attempt to beat him to death. Saunders was over 96 years old and lived near Neely's Bend. He was in bed & saw the def's outside setting fire to his corn crib, & saying they were going to burn his barn with the mules in it. He went out and protested; they beat him. |

William Douglass, referred to as "colored" as was the def., testified that he lived near Gallatin on land belonging to . F. Green. In 1875 a "colored" preacher came to his house on a mule, asking to stay the night. Douglass put the mule in a neighbor's barn only to later find Bell had let him out. They got into a fight and Bell stabbed Douglass in the face- very descriptive account of the wound. |

William Travis was accused of assaulting Franklin Harris with attempt to commit first degree murder in 1873. He shot Harris in the thigh. Nancy Ann Harris is named as prosecutrix. Case file incomplete in that no testimony is included. |

A witness testified that Graves shot him while they were at the witness' house. They decided to go to Flat Woods & "whip old Tom chappell & a negro," Chappell was involved in a debt dispute. Grave's brother Tom was at Flat Woods as well on Sunday morning . Plaintiff argued with the witness who was eventually shooting the shoulder by James Graves. |

In 1873 Few allegedly assaulted John D. Holland, only twelve years old at the time. Holland lived with Few for 3 years. One day Holland had some neighborhood boys over & one of them, Lawrence Donegan stole money out of Few's pocketbook. Few braided 3 switches from a peach tree, then hung Holland upside down from the tree & beat him until he was covered in bruises, leaving him hanging when he was done. Few accused him of stealing, demanding he return the money. |

In 1873 Bandy shot William Little with a pistol, and was accused of "Malicious Shooting." Bandy & Little were walking along a road, with Little's hand on Bandy's shoulder. Little pulled on Bandy's shoulder, catching his shirt and causing it to tear. Bandy told Little he would shoot him for tearing his shirt and held up his gun. Little lunged at him and Bandy fired. |
