At that time, law (act 1822, ch. 29) provided that county courts, when making allowances to mother of illegitimate children for their support, allowance shall not for the 1st year after the birth exceed $40, for the 2nd year $30, & for the 3rd year $20. Male child named John Marion Letzinger born September 25, 1846; mother was Elizabeth Jane Letzinger. At one point, trial delayed because witness John Holden had pneumonia. Howard determined to be father of child, but question re: timing of suit. |
