Lea is sued Rucker on account of Ambrose Rucker who was deceased when the trial came to court, . Ambrose Rucker was the trustee for Sarah Lea's land and property. Lea claims Ambrose rented out her slaves from 1856 until they were freed in 1865 without giving her the money. Furthermore, Ambrose sold Lea's land without compensating her fairly. Within the court record is a list of eleven slaves--age, name, and what area of work they were suited for. |
