Additional complainants: Eliza Cook, wife of George Cook, Alexander Cook. On 1/20/1879 by verbal contract, George Cook sold a house and lot to Pitts Jones. Jones never paid the money due at any time making the verbal contract and void. Pitts has had the use of house and lot and has never paid anything for its use. In original bill, Thomas purchased of defendant 48 walnut logs totaling $273.80, pre-selling them to a third party at a profit of $66. The logs were never delivered and Thomas sued for cost paid plus profit he lost, citing breach of contract. Chancellor decreed he should receive his purchase money but not the lost profit. Includes assignment of errors by Thomas for not receiving his lost profits. |

Plaintiff was hired to be overseer of a farm in Philadelphia, Tenn. To be paid $300 per year, but defendant Cozart told him he had to be a stockholder to work for the company and that he had to purchase $2000 stock. Plaintiff sued defendants for $570 in unpaid wages and for fraud regarding the value of the stock he was forced to purchase as part of the agreement. Additional defendants: A. W. Cozart, Al Cozart, Jasper Billings, Pearce Carter, and Gilbert Keen. |

Add dfnts. were Samuel Hill and W. D. Kenner of "The Rogersville Bank," F. M. Falkerson, A. D. Huffmaster. In 1885, Colegrave was granted legal authority to sublease the transport of U.S. mail on a route in Florida. Colegrave, a resident of Washington, D.C. sued Aiken for breach ofcontract because he failed to perform his duty per his sublease contract. |

Additional defendants: R. Fehr, W.F. Auten, the Board of School Directors of 13th District of Davidson Co. with Hill as Chairman. Plaintiff, a qualified teacher, entered into a contract with defendants to teach for one scholastic year at $45 per month. In 1883, plaintiffs school was closed for a period of four months, with no explanation, during which she received no compensation. Plaintiff sued for $236.25, her salary from this period. Defendants claim plaintiff agreed with school suspension. |

Dickerson entered into a contract with Love stating that Love would saw all the logs that Dickerson brought to him between October 16, 1883, and February 1, 1884, at a rate of $3.75 per thousand feet. With Love agreeing to be paid only when the lumber was shipped and sold. Love measured the logs as they were delivered instead of after they had been sawed and tried to charge Dickerson for them. Love brought suit against Dickerson before a justice of the peace and was awarded $338.31. |
