Ruohs purchased 22 bonds of $1k each issued by the town of Athens, in order to by shares of $22k in stock in the Nashville & Tellico Railroad Company, meant to mature in 20 years. Ruohs accuses bank officers John A. Hart, William H. Hart, and W. E.Baskett of selling bonds which they knew to be faulty, insolvent, and possibly invalid. See additional case of Joseph Ruohs v. Railroad contracted with Mass. & Southern to build tracks from Charleston to the Ohio River using bonds to generate payment. Pltf filed a lien on the tracks constructed in TN to clarify how much debt they owed and to settle the debt through liquidated damages. Exhibits include detailed payments, billing, and depositions. |

State ex rel for: J. F. Singer, William Singer, and Uriah Peebles. Buena Vista Turnpike Co. was assigned to construct a road and toll houses on a route leading from NW end of Spruce St., across the Cumberland River, to a point on White's Creek Turnpike. They were also permitted to build and operate a ferry boat across the river. They had not built the road until well after the expected due date of said project.
