C. D. Willis was the branch manager of Mack International Motor Truck Corp.'s agency in Knoxville. C.D. Willis approached plaintiff for purpose of selling a truck and agreed to sell their old Mack truck for $600. C.D. Willis was accidentally killed before he could fulfill the agreement; therefore, his estate became liable. Plaintiff suing defendant to comply with agreement and pay them $600 due them under the terms of said agreement. Exhibits include 4 pictures of truck and notes made out to Mack Trucks. |

He is sued for $6000 damages, charging deft. with breach of contract on grounds that in 1925 it terminated his 3-year contract after 1 year without cause, leaving him unemployed for remainder of the "scholastic period". Deft. argues that the contract was always for 1 year only, & that the said document shows signs of alteration to make it appear to be a 3-year contract rather than a 1-year contract. 5 Folders |

On 17 Oct. 1929 plntff. Purchased Lots 5 & 6 from the deft. For the sum of $2250 to be paid in installments. At the time of the transaction plntff. was led to believe the property was "free & unencumbered", with no other mortgages or liens. He has since learned the deft. mortgaged the premises to Hamilton Trust & Savings Bank to secure a $1000 indebtedness. Plntff. is now suing for breach of contract to recover monies already paid & monies spent on improvements that he made to the property. |

Pink's son Luther was killed while working for Pruden Coal & Coke Co. Luther's stepgrandma Mattie sued to recover compensation for his death. Pink was going to sue for same but, instead, agreed w/Mattie that each would get 50% of such compensation, but Mattie then failed to pay Pink his share; this suit ensued. Mattie was widow of Thomas Hutson, Luther's grandpa, and the Hutson's raised Luther, whose mom died when he was a baby. |

L. A. Williams hired Ridge in 1929 to care for and run the Alleghany Springs Hotel until it opened on July 4, 1930. He was to receive $7.50 per month year round, and for three months, beginning on July 4, 1930, he was to receive $12.00 per day and board for himself and family. Ridge moved to the Springs, about 16 miles from his home, and prepared the hotel for its open. L. A. Williams died, and his administrator, L. E. Williams, decided to drop the venture. Ridge sued for the bulk of his pay. |

The TN Roofing & Tile Co. sued to recover a balance of $614.16 due from a contract to furnish building material (concrete and coke breeze blocks) for the residence of L.C. Ely and his wife. Ely issued cross-bill for breach of warranty for $10,000 damages for interior quality material containing 40% unburned coal, which the co. contested. Court ruled in favor of Ely for $6885.84.
