Plaintiff was owed $3600 by Robert Roman who had no other means to secure the debt other than a life insurance policy with Equitable Life. Policy assigned to Keyer. Roman died 19 March 1903 in New Orleans; court ruled that the policy had been legally assigned to Keyer, but that Roman had committed suicide. Keyer appealing the decision. Mrs. Sallie Rhett Roman mother of Robert Roman; she was a sketch writer on the New Orleans "Times Democrat". |

Alleges that in 1904 he purchased from defendant $9000 worth of fire insurance on his lumber yard; insurance policies used as collateral security for indebtedness with the Memphis Savings Bank. Insured property destroyed by fire on 23 Dec. 1904. Insurance company has acted in bad faith by arbitrarily refusing to pay the loss or proceed with the adjustment. |
