View Entry 1889 James T. Diamond v. D. R. Johnson, Guardian Davidson Insurance Claims and Policies

Peter Fogerty joined the Catholic Knights of America and took out life insurance for $2000. After he was sent to lunatic asylum, his wife, Mary, unable to pay dues, asking Diamond to pay them until Peter's death; after which he would be paid $600. Johnson is guardian of Mary and Peter Fogerty's child. Diamond suing Johnson to recover the $600. Case contains 64p booklet of the Constitution of the Supreme Council of the Catholic Knights of America, published by L.H. Bell in Louisville, KY in 1885.

Merchants & Miners Transportation Co. had an insurance policy on one of their warehouses with the East TN insurance Co. The insured warehouse was destroyed by fire & when they tried to get the insurance money for the loss the insurance co. refused to pay

View Entry 1889 Stones River National Bank v. Home Insurance Company of New York Rutherford Insurance Claims and Policies

Stones River National Bank had taken out an insurance policy for $2000 on a house situated in Murfreesboro, which was destroyed in a fire in 1887. There was issue with the defendant's failure to mention to insurance co. that the house was on leased property belonging to the Chattanooga Railroad. Judge ruled in favor of plaintiff for $2000 and $90 interest.
