Dispute over the total loss of plaintiff's home in Mt. Vernon, Tenn. Bowers further claimed that a company agent deceived him into signing a document calling for payment of half the policy value. Springfield [Mass.] Ins. Co. policy sold through Sweetwater Realty Co. Real picture postcard of the bungalow-style house that was destroyed. Several original policies included; also a deed of trust to Bowers and wife, Ada Maye.

Plaintiff was the owner of a 2 story brick building located on the north side of the public square in Pulaski, TN. Said building was insured against fire through the defendant. On October 26, 1889 said building was completely destroyed by fire. Plaintiff and the defendant entered into negotiations to determine the value of the loss. Plaintiff was unsatisfied with the appraisal and brought suit. The destroyed building was situated near an area referred to as "Coon Corner."

Defendants include the Gump Investment Company. Sentinel issued a payment to Gump after a claim was filed on a damaged vehicle. However, an error was made in the amount of payment. Before the error could be corrected, the check payment had been turned over as payment to another party. Sentinel seeks to be recouped the overpayment, and errors in bookkeeping be settled between the parties.

Plaintiff was owed $3600 by Robert Roman who had no other means to secure the debt other than a life insurance policy with Equitable Life. Policy assigned to Keyer. Roman died 19 March 1903 in New Orleans; court ruled that the policy had been legally assigned to Keyer, but that Roman had committed suicide. Keyer appealing the decision. Mrs. Sallie Rhett Roman mother of Robert Roman; she was a sketch writer on the New Orleans "Times Democrat".

The Fidelity Casualty Co. issued an insurance policy to The Lookout Iron Co. which covered any damages resulting from the explosion of any of its seven steam boilers. One of the boilers did burst and Fidelity refused to pay.

The plaintiff issued a health insurance policy. After being butted by a calf Mr. Campbell became ill & suffered three nervous breakdowns, resulting in lengthy hospital stays. After Campbell's bills were filed with Sun, the company learned he had not dis- closed his diabetes, nor the death of his sister by tuberculosis. He sought $1669.06 for his hospital bills & chancery court fees. Exhibits include detailed hospital records, including copies from the historic Battle Creek Sanitarium in Michigan. 2 fldrs.

Margaret Thane took out a policy for her life in the amount of two thousand dollars with the Supreme Hive of the Ladies of the Maccabees of the World. Shortly before her death they claimed that her age had been misstated on her application. They claimed her membership was void unless she could prove her age. She and other members of her family submitted affidavits proving her birth date was correct. On her death they submitted their claim and were denied the money.

View Entry 1928 Tennessee Drake v. Universal Life Ins. Co. Madison Insurance Claims and Policies

Tennessee and her husband, James B. Drake, took out life insurance policies naming each other beneficiaries. James died on April 23, 1926 of a protracted illness that affected his heart. Premiums were kept on schedule. After her husband took ill, Ins. Agent M. M. McGaughey attempted to get them to cancel one of the policies. Pltf. kept policies with L. G. Murray, who surrendered docs to said agent who cancelled them. This was not told to pltf until after James' death.
