Roman died 19 March 1903 in New Orleans; court ruled that the policy had been legally assigned to Keyer, but that Roman had committed suicide. Keyer appealing the decision. Margaret Thane took out a policy for her life in the amount of two thousand dollars with the Supreme Hive of the Ladies of the Maccabees of the World. Shortly before her death they claimed that her age had been misstated on her application. They claimed her membership was void unless she could prove her age. She and other members of her family submitted affidavits proving her birth date was correct. On her death they submitted their claim and were denied the money. |

Tennessee and her husband, James B. Drake, took out life insurance policies naming each other beneficiaries. James died on April 23, 1926 of a protracted illness that affected his heart. Premiums were kept on schedule. After her husband took ill, Ins. Agent M. M. McGaughey attempted to get them to cancel one of the policies. Pltf. kept policies with L. G. Murray, who surrendered docs to said agent who cancelled them. This was not told to pltf until after James' death. |
