The Sorces' car accident resulted from going over a retaining wall built by Fischer Lime and Cement Company on their Pontotoc Ave. property. Sorce alleges it was dangerous. Josephine Howard is the administratrix for her sister, Maude Howard, an African American girl. Maude fell through a sidewalk grating at the NE corner of Broadway and Louisiana streets in Memphis and passed away ten months after the accident. Before her death, Maude began a suit against the City of Memphis and after her death, Josephine continued the suit. |
