For period of 6 years before death of John Vance Sr, Byas & his wife performed large amount of work for Vance, at his request, & promised to pay them what work was reasonably worth, but he never did so. Jury ruled in Byas' favor, awarding $95 in damages. Charles Eaton was employed by E.A. Guilfoyle and Company for several years and both parties agreed to a new contract of employment terms with a cut in salary for Eaton beginning July 1, 1921. However, by the end of July, Eaton refused to take a salary cut. Eaton claims he is entitled to the full salary for the month of July.

Plaintiff was under contract to sell logs to the defendant company. He says he delivered the logs as contracted and is sued for payment.

The two parties are disputing two different contracts regarding the selling of coal.

Case concerned a dispute on amount of commissions owed by defendant for cotton bought and sold by the plaintiff on the defendants behalf. Case file appears to not be complete. This dealt with Confederate treasury notes which was used in exchange for bank note in February 1862. The Union Bank of Tennessee would not honor the notes. The laws of War were in place which prevented payment of note. One year later the note was presented to a New Orleans Bank and they would not honor it either because it was Confederate notes. There was money in the bank to honor the notes, but in September, 1863 the U.S. Military authorities removed the money.

Contract issue concerns the operation of a "liquor saloon business" in a property when the contract specifically prohibited such a business .

Plaintiff had bills to Taylor Drug Company. Plaintiff told Taylor Drug not to sell to his family. Plaintiff's wife continued to buy products. Is promise to pay by a family wife without her husband's approval valid promise or promise without consideration?
