He also contracted with Dunn to make 2 saddles for him (ladies' & men's). He made all saddles in O'Neal's saddle shop in Benton. Shop was 200 yards from Dunn's house. McCoy went to Charleston, SC to get hog skin & skirting for sAdd.es. Dispute centers around these sAdd.e transactions. Also mentioned: Samuel Dunn, Dr. Pendergrass (for whom McCoy made a pair of sAdd.ebags). |

Similarly, Pltfs say J.P. owns wagon & oxen but colluded with brother John & dad Solomon to say he doesn't, to avoid creditors. Witnesses: Wm Carter, D.B. Bell, Lafayette McLeod, others. |

Raht is seeking to collect on a debt of $84,711.61 owed to him by the def. that was accumulated during his time as agent and superintendent of the company's Ducktown mining operations. Defendant accused Raht of building his fortune by converting the company's assets to his own use. This trial was the largest in the history of the Tennessee Supreme Court up to 1875. The court ultimately favored Raht, but he died before the lawsuit ended. See ET 1607, 1608, 1609, and 1610. |

Henderson executed note in favor of Rowan, who then got judgment on note and, 4 months later, began execution of judgment on Henderson's property (negroes, cattle, sheep, oxen, farm equipment). Execution then stayed by White & Pickens per 1842 Act of General Assembly allowing 8-month stay on all judgments before Justice of Peace. Accordingly, Henderson petitioned circuit court to quash execution, which it did, & Rowan appealed to SC. |
