Other defendants: E. N. Griffith; W. T. McPeak. Stephenson had brought suit against John H. Estes for debt. Fox had bought some land from Estes, so Stephenson sought to collect debt owed by Estes from Fox. Fox claimed he had paid off notes or only owed an $10-15 on them. Fox & Estes were ordered to pay Stephenson $232.50 & court costs. Fox was seeking to have the judgement against him dismissed. |

For another case (Hugh Dowling, admr. Of James Calloway, dec. v. E.P. Cawood) Crookshanks and John W. Easley were security for Cawood. In that case, Justice ruled against Cawood for $205.70. Stinnett stayed Crookshank's note, which was never paid. Dowling had Crookshanks, Easley, and Stinnett levied to satisfy execution. Stinnett now asking for Motion for Dismiss against Crookshanks for not having agency to procur him as stayer. Court ruled in favor of defendant. Plaintiff appealed. |
