Later Baker took a trust deed for land. At the time trust deed was executed, T. L. Branson was legal owner of land. Conveyance was bona fide. |

Case file incomplete; brief only. In May, 1883 Acuff contracted with Cox to sell him a tract of land in Raccoon Valley containing about 130 acres. Price for the land was $800.00. Cox paid about $450.00. and executed a note for the remainder. At the time See ET Box 1871 as well - no deed or title was drawn as some surveying needed to be done. Cox became very ill and Acuff was advised to draw up a deed but kept the deed in his possession. Cox recovered and refused to acknowledge deed as was written. |

Opinion only. Complex land and title dispute. Lyons took deed of conveyance from Anderson Acuff for a tract of 140 acres. Acuff had obtained judgment against Lyons for unpaid purchase money. Land was sold by sheriff to L.M. Ellis. Deed eventually came to Wyrick. Lyons and Ellis had made verbal agreement on the redemption of the land but Ellis sold to J.L. Mynatt. Plaintiffs charges a vendor's lien was created in favor of Lyons. |

Hubbs owned land on Flat Creek but went into debt and was forced to sell it in court to Howard Howell in 1872. Hubbs went to his neighbor Kelley and entered into an oral contract, wherein Kelley would put up the purchase money and Hubbs could reclaim the land. This motion was brought to enforce Kelley’s payment so that Hubbs may claim his redemptive right to the land. 228 pages in ET1959 |

On 4 April 1859 complainants executed a $676 note to the Circuit Court Clerk for a slave sold under a decree of that court. On 2 Oct. 1860 the clerk's successor reported that the note was unpaid & rendered a judgment for $736, the entire amount plus interest, without notifying complainants. Complainants seek to enjoin an execution from the Court, also state that they did make payments on the note that were not properly recorded. |

In 1851 James Norton deeded a tract to his son Amos Norton. Amos was at the time was "an idiot, is now an idiot, and he has been his entire life." He should have a trustee. In 1854 James sold the land to John Allred and Jesse Carroll. In 1860 Carroll sold his portion to Lewis Loy. Then Amos's stepmother installed Amos in Carroll's vacated house so that Loy couldn't take possession. Amos's only property was "an old quilt which is placed upon a pile of straw on the floor…." Complications developed. |
