Rhonda Pilkington worked for the American Cigar Box Lumber Company, but was supposedly fired when she had to go to Jonesboro for a few days. Incomplete case file; assignment of errors only.

A check for $1,500 was drawn from M.W. Williams from the Bank of East Tennessee to the plaintiffs to make the plaintiffs sureties in his debt of $500. The defendant was a clerk of Cocke, the man to which Williams was indebted. The issue of this case was brought up when a disagreement of when the remaining $1,000 was to be repaid.

Complex case with many defendants, including John Russell & John Lackey, admr. Of Absolom Mattock. Ambrister sued for an injunction against the defendants restraining them from selling tracts of land and a lien upon the lands granted to him. He also wanted what was entitled to him from the Lewis[?] Browder estate. Possibly related to case John W. Lackey & J. R. Russell, admrs. V. Asa Ambrister, Excr. In Chancery Court in Loudon County in 1873 for inventory of property (ET 1223).

Hutchinson owned property in Knox county that she commercially leased to Oscar Dunn and James Carson, whom erected buildings on the property. The lease was sold and conveyed to W. M. Fulton by Dunn and Carson, however Hutchinson was unhappy with the terms of the transfer. She believed that Fulton had created a corporation for the purpose of stripping and selling the commercial property, thereby defrauding Hutchinson.

Plaintiff is seeking to have an insurance policy reconstrued, as the amount the policy was for was mistyped and Defendant is seeking reimbursement of that mistyped, higher amount. Exhibits include insurance application, insurance certificates, payment book, register sheets, b&w photographs, correspondence.

Annie Brown was the widow of George Brown. This case involved a dispute between her and her stepchildren over the interests and rights to a hardware business owned by the said George Brown, deceased.

Additional defendants: C.C. Wilcox, E.C. Camp, S.S. Tuttle, M. Reis, E.A. Reed; E.C. Locke, Josiah Curtis, and E.C. Camp comprising the Coal Creek Coal Company. P.A. Mariner was one of the firm of M.C. Wilcox & Co. coal dealers, minors, etc. at Knoxville. Mariner had since retired and M.C. Wilcox & Co. changed to Coal Creek Coal Co. In an agreement, the Co. claimed ownership of a tract of land. A.S. Mariner purchased Lot No. 169 at tax sale. Dispute over ownership of tract of land.

Kutsche Company did not pay McWhorter his total wage for work done on a Knoxville post office, totaling $108. However, he is accused of working at the rate of thirty cents an hour, then after the job was complete asking for a higher wage for work paid and completed. Eckel took out a mortgage on land payable to W. L. Jack, C. B. Johnson was the trustee. Jack acted as agent for S. R. Rambo. Hahn purchased the mortgage note from her brother, John M. Ross.The mortgage was foreclosed upon, & Hahn sought payment, or title. The land had been conveyed to C. C. Rutherford & his wife in the mean time. Suit sought to recover debt & clarify land ownership.

Complainants F. C. Bearden and Archie Ferguson did business as Bearden & Ferguson, a firm that dealt in lumber, sash, doors, blinds, and other building materials. The company furnished such for erecting a house on a lot for Gaylon. He contracted the building to one Manis by verbal agreement. Manis never recorded the deed or paid anything on the house, so a real estate company sold the property to Gaylon. Gaylon sub-contracted the masonry to Scott, who eventually asked for a Mechanic's lien.

This case deals with several automobile companies in Knox County and their dispute with the county clerk over certain taxes that they owe to the state as dealers of automobiles. Other dealers listed in case: Carter Motor Sales Co., Kerr Motor Co., Knoxville Buick Co., Knoxville Motor Co., J.C. Mahan Motor Co., Sienknecht Motor Co., Spiers Motor Co., Southern Motors, Inc., and Vester Motor Co.

Bessie M. Shipley was an employee of the Standard Knitting Mills and was enrolled in the group life insurance program provided by said employer through the def. and to which the pla. was the beneficiary. Bessie became ill and died on Oct. 28, 1931 in Knoxville General Hospital. Pla. claims the def., in breach of contract, has refused to payout the said policy. Exhibit materials include correspondence and employment information. Bessie had a 7th grade education and made $0.21 per hour.

This was a suit to recover as beneficiary on a policy of industrial life insurance upon the life of Willie Barrett.

Additional defendants: Andrew J. Ely, W. D. & Carrie L. Capps, and Sylvia Capps. Additional plaintiffs: H. E. Sprankle. Plaintiffs had taken out a mortgage that was coming due and therefore took out a renewal note, however second mortgages fall under different regulations and the plaintiffs held that this was their first mortgage and that they had been extended as opposed to taking out a second mortgage. Exhibits include mortgage deed checks.
