Pls inherited their grandfather, Wm. McKenne's enslaved bondsmen named in his will: Rachel, Ben, Phyllis, Benah. Their enslaved children: Hannah Riddick, Alick, Cass, Ben, Loose, Philis, Willis. Defendants took possession of said slaves & moved them from Tennessee before the estate was settled. Names misspelled as Uzzle. See additional docs in multiple folders in MT box 2a.

By the time this case was heard by Supreme Ct. in Nashville, def. Young had died testate, with James Alexander named executor. Def. Young brought initial suit against plaintiff, due to a dispute over a spring-wagon/buggy trade. Young paid $50 plus his wagon for the buggy, which did not satisfy his daughter. This suit revolves around the terms of rescinding the trade.

The heirs of John Burns, deceased, are disputing over their right to their father's estate

Plaintiff is appealing a judgment against him in circuit court for $25.00 to settle debt, he further states the note was paid in full when a levy was made against his tobacco.

In 1868 a judgment was obtained against Gibson for $1399 for notes he wrote to the plaintiffs' administrative estate. The judge failed to sign the judgment. Suit was filed to obtain a legal judgment, to obtain the debt payment so that the estate could be settled.

This dispute revolves around the rent payment for a store on N. Water St. in Gallatin TN the plaintiff occupied as of Sept 1, 1877. Rent was $250 per yr., with clause if store destroyed, rent agreement would cease. The store burned down in 1880. Defendant claims there was no disaster clause & regardless, the original contract had expired & he is due rent for year 1880 of $320. Plaintiff had paid this as part of previous judgment, but appeals to have rent from date of fire returned.

Elizabeth sued Reuben for $3,000 damages related to his nonpayment of a $1773.02 note he executed in her favor. He says he paid the note & also claimed a $2500 set-off for goods, wares, merchandise, labor, & services & attention he provided to her farm. Reuben says for many years he attended to Elizabeth's business & ran her farm, & made many improvements to it at her direction & at his own expense & she agreed to pay for same. Elizabeth also referred to as Bettie. Related case in chancery court.
