By the time this case was heard by Supreme Ct. in Nashville, def. Young had died testate, with James Alexander named executor. Def. Young brought initial suit against plaintiff, due to a dispute over a spring-wagon/buggy trade. Young paid $50 plus his wagon for the buggy, which did not satisfy his daughter. This suit revolves around the terms of rescinding the trade. |

Defendants created an unofficial group named the Grangers and went into contract with plaintiffs to deliver 580 spring lambs on a certain day. The defendants failed to deliver the livestock and under the contract were supposed to pay $1 per head in damages plus a deposit put into a local bank. The defendants refused to pay either sum. |

This dispute revolves around the rent payment for a store on N. Water St. in Gallatin TN the plaintiff occupied as of Sept 1, 1877. Rent was $250 per yr., with clause if store destroyed, rent agreement would cease. The store burned down in 1880. Defendant claims there was no disaster clause & regardless, the original contract had expired & he is due rent for year 1880 of $320. Plaintiff had paid this as part of previous judgment, but appeals to have rent from date of fire returned. |
