Jury convicted Day of drawing "from a place of concealment about his person a certain large knife resembling a Bowie knife with intent to cut, stick & stab" & also to "intimidate" Sterling T. Bacon. Weapon also referred to as "Arkansas toothpick." Day was mail carrier who carried mail from Chattanooga depot to post office. Abner Wisdom: Day came to his house, asked him to accompany Day to Sterling's house to; he witnessed Day draw the knife at Sterling's house. Other witnesses testified similarly. |
