The suit tried to separate the fault of Black & Heiskell. Heiskell successfully proved his innocence as not part of Black's practices but merely a building owner. |

Fulton owned negro male slave Jack & accused Rail Road of unlawfully converting Jack to its own use. Fulton says railroad, without authority, received Jack on board its passenger cars & carried him on its train from Chattanooga to Atlanta. E. B. Walker, railroad's Master of Transportation, gave Jack's brother (who worked for the railroad in Atlanta) a pass to come to Chattanooga to get Jack, who was seized & sold when he arrived to satisfy debt of his previous owner, Allison Nelson. |
