Plaintiff is seeking to have an insurance policy reconstrued, as the amount the policy was for was mistyped and Defendant is seeking reimbursement of that mistyped, higher amount. Carrick McFetridge, Lula's husband, had a life insurance policy for $430. When he died in1944, the insurance company claimed that there had been a mistake on the policy: that it should have been written for $230. Because Lula & Carrick were illiterate, the insurance company faulted them for not noticing that a policy on a 48-year-old man could not be written for more than $230. (2 copies of case)

Widby sued American Insurance for $1250.00 plus interest. Widby was the widow of Basil T. Widby, dec. who was killed in an accident with a Mack truck. American Insurance claims that the life insurance policy issued to Widby was in fact issued after he was killed rather than before. Therefore, American Insurance decided that Widby was not due payment.

Incomplete case file: testimony only. Because only testimony is present, case details are difficult to discern. It seems that Mrs. Addie Prince Harrell had trouble with her eyes, perhaps an astigmatism. She seems to have gotten into an accident, but was not badly harmed. She was diagnosed as neurasthenic. What she claimed to the insurance company is not stated here. Much questioning about glasses and nervous disorder.

Incomplete case file; pages 318 - 670, and testimony. Addie Prince Harrell was employed by a dentist creating crowns and bridge work on an emory wheel. Harrell had trouble with her eyes, perhaps an astigmatism. She was in an accident, then diagnosed neurasthenic. She made a claim to her insurance company that was challenged in court. Case related to ET Box 13a, & ET 98.

Add. material in ET 45. 2 folders. Add. defendants: H.L. McClung, R.M. McClung, & George W. Blackburn. The plaintiff had a policy of assurance with the defendant, to whom the plaintiff executed a note for said policy in the sum of $140 as premium. R.M. McClung was the agent assigned to the policy. In 1868, the plaintiff's store and trade goods, worth around $12,000, were consumed by a fire. The defendant failed to deliver the amount of coverage described in the policy.

The plaintiff sued the defendants insurance companies for failure to pay out according to their policies following a fire. Exhibit is the fire insurance policy that Knoxville Fire Insurance Co. issued to the Butternut Lumber Co. for $1250 in coverage dated for Nov. 5, 1886

Bessie M. Shipley was an employee of the Standard Knitting Mills and was enrolled in the group life insurance program provided by said employer through the def. and to which the pla. was the beneficiary. Bessie became ill and died on Oct. 28, 1931 in Knoxville General Hospital. Pla. claims the def., in breach of contract, has refused to payout the said policy. Exhibit materials include correspondence and employment information. Bessie had a 7th grade education and made $0.21 per hour.

Add plaintiffs: J. C. Heudgings, W. A. White, W. E. Norrell. Add defendants: Heugh N. Lloyd, an infant. Orren D. Lloyd, dec. died leaving several insurance policies. The plaintiffs were trustees on the policies suing for various things.

Erouth Buis (female) took out a sick policy, paid the premium, and fell ill the next morning. Three attending physician certificates state she suffered from pleurisy. Erouth was confined to bed about 4 weeks. Universal claimed she was sick at the time the policy was made. Testimony summaries: Erouth Buis, Dr. A. J. Bacote & Dr. O. B. Taylor. The doctors were identified as graduates of Meharry Medical College. Exhibits include policy & physician reports. Buis lived at 337 Bell St., Knoxville.

The def was a benefit fund insurance company & had issued Whiteside's husband a fund of $2k payable to her upon his death. Her husband died with all premiums & dues up to date. They refused to pay stating that Charles Whiteside was in poor health when he signed the paperwork. Whiteside sued to recover the benefit due her from claim.

Foster Brothers, a clothing & notions manufacturer on Gay Street in Knoxville suffered a total loss by fire. The insurance companies listed below refused to honor their claims. Foster Brothers sued to recover the benefits due them from their policies. Cases combined w/ pl's v.: Fire insurance Assoc. of Philadelphia, German Insurance Company of New York, Commonwealth Insurance Company of New York, Caledonian Insurance Company, Stuyvesant Insurance, Phoenix Insurance, American Central Insurance. 5 fldrs.

Naill sued for the sum of $1020.80 plus interest on a group policy of health insurance issued by defendant to Jefferson Woolen Mills of Knoxville, Naill's employer. Exhibit: policy certificate, hours and wages for employee Frank Naill.
