I. C. Grant made a deed in trust to A.D. Rhea, as security for creditor Warham Easley, partner in Easley & Jones. Grant & his wife then sold land to Easley, a part of Rhea's trust deed. Easley paid off the debt, Grant conveyed the land but did not pay off Rhea's trust deed. Easley had his own debts, & tried to get money from Grant through the law suit. The connection of Ingersoll and Seuter to Rhea, Easley, and Grant is unclear.

Mabry's wife, Laura, was daughter of George Churchwell, dec., & Joseph was admr of his estate. Mabry offered full sum for 2 lots, but deft's refused to accept money. Additional Plntffs.: P. L. Atchley; William H. Cannon. Atchley & Cannon recovered judgments against Goforth that were satisfied by a levy on Goforth's undivided interest in a tract of land, Goforth having no other property. Atchley bought the land. Cannon redeemed it from Atchley & sold his bid to Davis who procured a Sheriff's deed. It now appears deft. has inherited legal title to the land from his mother, recently decd. Plntffs. want Gofoth's share sold to pay the judgments, earlier arrangements voided.

Anderson bought property adjacent to Georgia Ave. in Chattanooga. At time of purchase, a fence which abutted sidewalk running along street had been knocked down by trespassers. After he replaced the fence, believing it to be the boundary of the property, he received letter from the city marshal ordering him to move the fence back 9-13 ft. from the sidewalk or it would be torn down. Anderson was seeking to confirm that the property line was at the edge of the sidewalk.

On 1 Dec. 1868 Ritty (Collins) Gibson purchased a tract of land from deft. for $500, paying $100 down & giving Seal 1 note for $100 & another for $300. Plntff. has since learned that most of the land she bought belongs to Nancy Collins except for a few acres. The notes, which are now due, have been transferred to Lewis M. Jarvis. Plntff. wants Court to cancel the notes & see that they are returned to her, & force Seal to refund her $100.

Add. defendants: Thomas Jamagin & Spencer Jamagin. The parties were married. The plaintiff's father, William Rucker (dec.), left her several tracts of land, a portion of which she deeded over to William Malicout. A deed was made out to the defendant by Malicout, cutting the plaintiff out of her share of the land. The making of said deed without the plaintiff's knowledge was a fraudulent move and she alone held rights to the land and her husband's debt to Jamagin led to the trespass.

Carter in documents). Robert sold his portion & defendants are all the various purchasers of the land. But purchasers were also claiming to own Jane's land as well.

Case concerns slaves brought into the marriage of G.M. Bartlett and Elizabeth G. Glassgow in late 1846 by the bride. Plaintiff is the sole issue of this marriage.

Tibbs made his commplaint against Julius E. Raht, George W. Sallie, Mahala Beard, John H. Beard, Marshall L. Beard, Francis A. Beard, Charlotte L. Beard, Nannie D. Beard, James L. Kirby, and Mary A. Bradford, Patience McGriff, and Charles D. Champion. He charged that "old William Champion" sold to him a 392-acre farm near Cleveland. Champion also sold 82 acres to James Stead who built a farm there. Tibbs bought that and sold it to C. L. Hardwick. It gets more complicated.

Additional defendants: Sanford Hendricks and James P. Priestly. Mary E. Cording, mother of named defendant and mother-in-law of Hendricks and Priestly, conveyed to them jointly some land. In consideration of the conveyance, defendants promised to pay existing debts of Mary Cording, and to support her for the remainder of her life (1858). Plaintiff brought this action in 1868 asking the court to decide whether his debtor, Hendricks, owned the land alone or jointly with Cording and Priestly.
