The plaintiff was unable to sell a tract of land as the land could have been claimed by the defendants on their fathers death. The plaintiff wanted the court to issue a sheriffs deed in which the plaintiff could sell the land with out the threat of the Wells family trying to reclaim the land. |

Court-ordered partition of land among heirs and defendant. Appealed. |

Due to the Civil war outbreak in the area the debt that was owed was not collected. A track of land was determined to be used to settle the debt. The track was parceled out and bought during the time it was being used as the payment for debt. The case is determining who had claim to said track of land. |

Davis claimed that the defendants never paid the balance on the notes and asked for repayment, a lien on the notes, and if not repaid, sale of the lands for repayment. |

Barnard inherited widow's dower from death of her husband 16 years prior to this suit. W.R. Mills got a judgment against her. C.H. Legere purchased the judgement & tried to foreclose on it. In order to fulfill the sale, the sheriff ordered a survey of Barnard's dower. Legere & Beckler were accused of leaving Barnard the least valuable portion of land, granting Legere the rest. |

Additional plaintiff: John H. Pearson. Defendants: George Green, admr., John Abijah, dec. Nicholas Wolfe sold Deboard land in Hancock County for $1800 in notes. Notes on others were also given for collateral, some in Confederate currency. Wolfe complained that the Confederate currency by 1870 was worthless & wished to be paid. |

Additional plaintiff: Arthur Gibson, husband of Ritty Gibson. On 1 Dec. 1868 Ritty (Collins) Gibson purchased a tract of land from deft. for $500, paying $100 down & giving Seal 1 note for $100 & another for $300. Plntff. has since learned that most of the land she bought belongs to Nancy Collins except for a few acres. The notes, which are now due, have been transferred to Lewis M. Jarvis. Plntff. wants Court to cancel the notes & see that they are returned to her, & force Seal to refund her $100. |
