Adams sold and conveyed to Defendants a tract of land. Fisher created lieu until all purchase money was paid but the value of the land increased before purchase was completed and Adams is trying to raise the purchase price for Fisher.

The original bill was filed July 1872. Additional plaintiffs: S. M. Whiteside, Ella McGavock, more+ In 1847 David McGavock conveyed to the NHS a parcel of land for $1,100 for the purpose of a garden for stockholders. After 70 years it reverted back. Located near the McGavock Plan north of Nashville, the land was eventually used as a dance and beer hall. Plaintiffs were heirs and sued to recover the land after 70 years. Add. plaintiffs: Matthew Perry & wife, John P., Henry C., Jesse F., James S., Margaret E., & Mary S. Vaughn by next friend S.S. Vaughn. Add. defendants listed in file. Plaintiffs filed to collect a tract of land as a dower from the defendants, whom the plaintiffs state have no rights to the land because no deed was produced.

Dunham claimed $50 damages as result of defendants' actions in cutting & destroying timber on his land. Dispute over which side of property line contained walnut tree that was cut. Dunham's land title originated with Wm R. Dunham who held many land grants Other Dunhams mentioned: Nancy Dunham (Isaac's sister), Martha Dunham. Geographic locations mentioned in describing land: Sink Creek, Dunham farm (where Wm lived until he died), Bain meeting house.

In 1860 Montgomery Hoss sold land to John Sherfy in Johnson City, filed with informal, personal papers, rather than with the county. These papers were lost. Sherfy died, then his executor had to settle the estate, & land ownership. James Sherfy sued to regain title from Ford who had claimed it. Additional parties: Montgomery Hoss, Henry Johnson, Daniel Keswer(?sp) was appointed exec, but failed to file any papers. Exhibits are a note of purchase/deed for the lot.

First case. Add pltf. V. C. Allen. Add dfnts. were Malinda Peak, T. J. Peak, L. C. Peak, Polk Peak, W. S. Peak, Bertie Davis. Pltfs allege that Jan. 4, 1877 J. A. Peak, dec., L. C. Peak, and Malinda Peak took out a note for $1113.09 from Chattanooga Discount & Deposit Bank. Pltfs. also allege that J. A. Peak executed a mortgage for 150 acres of land to V. C. Allen to gain more time in paying back the note. Cases are dispute over these transactions.

Pltf claimed dfnt conveyed to her a 75ft lot on east side of State Street between Cumberland and Church Streets and that after the death of her husband the dfnt claim title to about 23 ft of the lot.

Addt'l Defs: J.B. Briggs, Parker (Manager & Agent). Jeremiah O'Neill owned land when he died, leaving widow Catherine O'Neill & 4 children: Plaintiff, J.G. O'Neill (John), H.D. O'Neill (Daniel), & Hannah O'Neill (Geary). At issue: Mary's 1/4 intererest. Hughes says Mary conveyed it to her brothers before they conveyed the land to Hughes. Mary's husband John Conway abandoned her & Mary's marital status is issue in case. Part of land subject to 1838 TN land grant No. 15234.

Plaintiffs & defendants owned adjoining tracts of land. Plaintiffs were granted their tract by the State of Tennessee. Defendants refused to accept property line as laid out in their land grant.

Plaintiff owned a tract of land in the 7th civil district of Washingston County that creditors of J. H. Crouch, deceased, were attempting to place an attachment upon.

Additional Defts.: William Lockwood & C. W. Stewart. Plntff. had laid out the villages of Old Rockwood & New Rockwood, & had appointed Wilder its agent, authorized to sell lots only in New Rockwood. Plntff. alleged that Wilder made an unauthorized sale of Lot 2 in Old Rockwood to defts. Lockwood & Stewart who claimed full title to the lot, but made no effort to pay for or rent the property. Plntff. asked court to force defts. to surrender whatever title they might hold & return possession of lot to it.

The plaintiffs were heirs of Jonathan and Polly Barnard, dec. Polly Barnard was the daughter of Uberly Ball, dec. who owned a large estate in Hawkins Co. The plaintiffs claim the defendant had unlawfully claimed a 54 acre section of this ancestral land.

Sarah, wife of Def. Jonas, with whom she had several children, brought this suit to resolve dispute that arose over land (on Horse branch of Barton's Creek) previously owned by Jonas (in which Sarah had homestead rights), which land was deeded to F. C. McNeilly with understanding she would have opportunity to buy it back. Notwithstanding that agreement, F. C. conveyed land to Def. Davis, G. G. Gray & Jobe.

Additional defendants: Joseph Dabbs, John L. Webb. Plaintiff was forced to pay a judgment w/interest of $928.92 as security for John W. Lewis. Land owned by Lewis was levied, & sold to plaintiff for $500. The same 300 acres were claimed by Hufstedler through mortgage executed to him; upon forclosing this mortgage, J. Dabbs & J.L. Webb became purchasers. Plaintiff maintains his title is superior to other claims.

Additional plaintiff: wife Medora Record Walker, and her brothers A.M. S. Record & W.D.L. Record. Sion Record, died in 1859, leaving all to his wife E.M. & minor children. The plaintiffs dispute their mothers right to distribute their inheritance. Defendants claim E.M. Record signed a deed of trust C. McCord, their testator, for $1505.41, and on the same day, Mrs. Record sold the same property to her daughter Medora. Defendants claim fraud, as E.M. defaulted on deed of trust.

Dispute over who had right to operate ferry across Cumberland River in Celina, at point where Obed River empties into Cumberland & public highway crosses it, said highway leading from Celina to Burksville, KY. Some surrounding land owned by L.B. Peterman (who had leased land to Willis), while other surrounding land owned by Plumlee.
