The original bill was filed July 1872. Additional plaintiffs: S. M. Whiteside, Ella McGavock, more+ In 1847 David McGavock conveyed to the NHS a parcel of land for $1,100 for the purpose of a garden for stockholders. After 70 years it reverted back. Located near the McGavock Plan north of Nashville, the land was eventually used as a dance and beer hall. Plaintiffs were heirs and sued to recover the land after 70 years. In 1860 Montgomery Hoss sold land to John Sherfy in Johnson City, filed with informal, personal papers, rather than with the county. These papers were lost. Sherfy died, then his executor had to settle the estate, & land ownership. James Sherfy sued to regain title from Ford who had claimed it. Additional parties: Montgomery Hoss, Henry Johnson, Daniel Keswer(?sp) was appointed exec, but failed to file any papers. Exhibits are a note of purchase/deed for the lot. |

Harlow, deceased. The court found for the defendant. The court also ruled that the children of M.A. Ables first marriage (HM and IM Harlow) had no right to the 20+ acres. Also granted: Complainant W M Mullen was conveyance of 36 acres of Mr. & Mrs. Ables estate to satisfy debts incurred by M. A. Ables. |

Fryor claims Myatt does not have legal title to any part of a 3,000 acre tract of land. Myatt has already cut several hundred trees for cross lines for the Nashville, Chattanooga, St. Louis Railroad. Fryor sued Myatt $500 for cutting and taking timber and causing great and irreparable damage to said land. Fryor demands: Myatt stop cutting, selling and removing any more timber, Myatt and his employees be evicted, and that Myatt's claims to land be made and void. Case is in 2 folders. |

Plntff. alleged that Wilder made an unauthorized sale of Lot 2 in Old Rockwood to defts. Lockwood & Stewart who claimed full title to the lot, but made no effort to pay for or rent the property. Plntff. asked court to force defts. to surrender whatever title they might hold & return possession of lot to it. |
