Anderson bought property adjacent to Georgia Ave. in Chattanooga. At time of purchase, a fence which abutted sidewalk running along street had been knocked down by trespassers. After he replaced the fence, believing it to be the boundary of the property, he received letter from the city marshal ordering him to move the fence back 9-13 ft. from the sidewalk or it would be torn down. Anderson was seeking to confirm that the property line was at the edge of the sidewalk.

View Entry 1874 Margaret Greenville et al. v. T. J. Carlile & wife et al. Hamilton Land, Confirmation of Ownership

This case was filed to determine the ownership of a lot of land. Plaintiff purchased land in trust through trustee J. E. McMurphy who died before deed for land was transferred to plaintiff. Plaintiff also alleged that defendant was in possession of land illegally. Additional plaintiffs: William C. McMurphy, next friend of Margaret Greenville. Additional defendants: Charles E. Greenville, and Mary, Charles, and Clara McMurphy. Additional materials located in ET 1601.

French; heirs of Joseph Glass, dec.; Shelton Glass; John Taylor; Madison Taylor; [unknown] Taylor. Decedent & Edwards purchased Chickamauga Island [now under Chickamauga Lake] from O. S. Green prior to Civil War. Decedent to get lower half & Edwards upper half of island. Title to island did not name decedent as co-owner.

Addtl dfnt: John A. Smith. Long sued to confirm his ownership of a tract of land in the Ocall District of Hamilton County, a part of which the defendant has claimed as his own. Plaintiff sued to confirm ownership and force defendants off said tract. Exhibits include plat map of land in dispute. Map located in ET OV 24. Possibly related to Long v. Ellis ET 1068
