Add. defendants: D. B. Smith, W. D. Meriweather, R. Lester, & John Lockert. In 1884, the parties entered into a contract for the purchase of a tract of land for $2,200. The plaintiff paid in cash $933 and executed notes to pay the balance over two years. The defendant convinced the plaintiff to give him one of the notes for $300 early and in return he would execute a note of sale for another part of the land and give credit for the funds towards his balance, but he failed to produce the deed. |

Hester Woodruff sued in her own right and as admr. of Calvin Woodruff, dec. Other dfnts. were E. M. Kyker and others. The suit involved a 57 acre tract of land in Washington Co. which the pltf. claimed was sold by the dfnt and the money was kept. Pltf. sued to recover the money. Pltf. claimed dfnt had committed fraud. |

Elijah Jones and T. D. Knight jointly held two registered land grants in east Tennessee. The whereabouts of all the heirs are unknown and dividing the land would be difficult. The plaintiff asked the court to grant them the right to sell the property for partition and split the proceeds among the heirs. |
