View Entry 1932 Alice Chadwell et al. v. Ross Chadwell et al. Claiborne Land and Title Dispute

Additional Plaintiff: Porter Chadwell. Additional Defendant: Viola Chadwell, wife of Ross Chadwell. Plaintiffs and defendants are the heirs of George Chadwell and share in the lands he left to his family after his death. Plaintiffs complain that Def. Ross sold his interest in said property to them. However the Defendants are now divorcing and Def. Viola is claiming an interest in said land. The land in question lies in the 5th Civil District of Claiborne County, Tennessee.

View Entry 1932 Edd Houser et ux. v. Belle Goddard et al. Knox Land and Title Dispute

Additional Plaintiff: Evaline Houser, wife of Edd Houser. Additional Defendant: Rosa Hutchins. Plaintiffs purchased property, located in the 14th district of Knox county, from Goddard. Plaintiffs then paid Hutchins to have her attorney investigate the title. The attorney stated that the title was good. When the plaintiffs attempted to sell a part of said property, a second title search found that Goddard did not have full title to the property. Exhibit material consists of warranty deed information.

View Entry 1932 Grandview Coal & Timber Company v. G. O. Sanders et al. Hamilton Land and Title Dispute

Plaintiff sued defendants for title to land and for a decree restraining defendants from entering in and upon said land, committing waste and trespassing thereon, from tearing down fences, destroying timber, cutting timber, or in any way interfering with said property. View Entry 1932 J. Hardie Johnston, Jr. v. Mrs. Cora B. Johnston et al Bradley Land, Confirmation of Ownership

Add. Defendant: J. Hardie Johnston, Sr. C. B. Johnston is the plaintiff's stepmother and wife to second defendant. J. H. Johnston, Sr., took money from the estate of his deceased wife, Mrs. Lou A. Mee, that was willed to the plaintiff and invested it in certain real estate. J. H. Johnston, Sr. later conveyed the land to his co-defendant with the understanding that the plaintiff's rights to it were to be protected. She later filed for divorce from the co-defendant and took the rights to the land.

View Entry 1932 Martin Turner, Jr. by Guardian v. John B. Stanley Meigs Land and Title Dispute

Plaintiff is sued by his guardian, Nota Turner Lowery, and is the only heir of Martin V. Turner (dec'd), who was in possession of land described in the file. The defendant secured from Jesse and Joseph Burges land by a claim deed that was registered with the county. The plaintiff now charges that the Burges' never claimed to own any land in the said section and the defendant is attempting and threatening to enter upon the lands of the plaintiff.

Add'l defendants: Lilburn Owens, Scott Saylor, Gillus Saylor, Mary Brooks wife of Oscar Brooks, and Gilbert Saylor. Ollie's husband, Levi, died in 1929. In 1916, he deeded a tract of land to def. Pla. Wanted deed set aside for fraud and an injunction restraining def. from hindering her rights to hold and possess said land until her dower & homestead rights were determined.

Additional defendant: Robert L. McGinley. Joseph H. Walker had given a deed to the East TN & Georgia Railroad Co. in 1854; the Southern Railway Co. possessed all rights of East TN & Georgia RR Co. under said deed. Plaintiff had build their road long before any house was built within the limits of the Walker deed. Plaintiffs suing the defendants for encroachment-def. were building brick buildings on plaintiff's property close to their tracks. Plaintiff's suing for right of way. 6 folders.
