James was young & due to his mom's health, they went to live with his grandfather James Gant, never intending to abandon their right to said land, at which point Dimmon Sr took possession. |

Morgan had filed his bill against Milligan in 1847 in order to divest the title of a tract of land out of Milligan and vest it in himself. Claiming to be judgment credior to Milligan, Morgan had obtained a decree against Milligan in Chancery court for $336 in 1834. A reference to case Joseph Milligan v. Gideon Morgan in ET 676. Rogers obtained decree in 1857 against Milligan, which Milligan wants set aside. He also wants an injunction to stay issuance of writ of possession from other court. |

Land dispute over 125 acres of land in Sullivan county originally left to plaintiff and their children by her deceased husband, Samuel Torbett. Plaintiff gave up the land to the Bank of Tennessee and was not entitled to dower in the said land unless the debt on the land was removed. Additional defendants: Joseph Torbett, Samuel Torbett, Sallie Tobertt, Catherine Torbett, David Hughes and James Hughes. |

In suit against the East TN & Georgia Railroad Co. several years before, a judgment was obtained against Reynolds for $55.55, which was levied on a tract of land. Walkers had bought land who conveyed it to Baker for $1100 in Confederate money. Walkers refused to allow Reynolds to redeem property because he was Unionist, whereas Walkers were Confederates. Reynolds charges sale to Baker void because of use of illegal currency. |

McCarty, dec.'s property. In second case, Fain by next friend of Edmond D. Wilson, who with several other heirs of James R. McCarty were suing Mary Robert Kyle, minor, to reclaim title to James R. McCarty, dec.'s land, which was fraudulently taken by Robert Kyle. |

Dispute re title to this land, incl 4 entries (2044, 2045, 2046, 2052) in Greene Cty entry taker's office, Dudley tract (175 acres on Cove Creek) & more. James M. Conduff died during suit. |

In April 1868, plaintiff conveyed to defendant a tract of 10 acres of land which included a grist and saw mill for the purpose of securing the payment of several debts. Hyder was appointed trustee to carry out conditions of the deed trust. |

A joint decree was rendered in all these cases against James Carmichael. James left for South Carolina during war to be within Confederate military lines. His lands were sold by decree and purchased by plaintiff in 1865 but were seized by U.S. gov't under Second Confiscation Act. Freedmen's Bureau given possession later. Plaintiff wants her money refunded. |

Anderson who had been engaged in armed rebellion against the United States and therefore lost his land due the Confiscation Acts passed in 1861 & 1862. Plaintiff sold the land to Hardin and Hardin transferred his note on lot to James Guardenhire and Guardenhire has demanded a writ of possession from the Clerk & Master and is threatening to have Gamble kicked off the land. |
