Plaintiffs in error, along with Sam Horn, Henry Horn and Mrs. Henry Horn, are accused of shooting Victor Widener to death. Paul, Sam, and Curtis Horn are the sons of Henry and Nannie Horn. It appears that the victim lived on Horn's land and had a relationship with Elise Horn, daughter of Henry and Nannie. The victim had a baby with Elise (5 years before his death) while married to another woman, causing tension between the parties. |

Incident of 8 Nov. 1931, defendant Joe B. Rodifer did feloniously operate an automobile on the public highway in the 17th Civil District, Sullivan County, Tenn., in a wreckless manner, thereby striking A. R. Rosenbalm and killing him, and did fail to stop and aid or assist said Rosenbalm or to ascertain the extent of his injuries. Earlier charge of murder, then downgraded to manslaughter. Appealed to Supreme Court in Knoxville. |

Oversize map, on Vote Democrats banner with a pen moustache on Gov. Henry H. Horton. Dfnt. was initially indicted for first degree murder, but the charge was reduced. Dfnt. shot and killed Hugh Gardner, her husband. Marital problems seemed to be cause of the shooting. Dfnt. claimed self-defense, decedent, before he died, claimed she shot him for no reason. Dfnt. claimed he threatened her life and came at her with a knife, causing her to shoot in self-defense. Some missing letters arise. 2 folders. WT OV 7 |

Watson was accused of the murder of Sam Hall. On October 15, 1929, Watson shot Hall twice with a shotgun on land subject to Hall's life estate. Watson was Hall's son-in-law by wife, Lorene. After Watson used Hall's mules the day before, they were a little beat up around the mouth. Hall threatened Watson's life and cursed him. Watson secured a shotgun, and returned to picking cotton. Hall advanced on Watson with something in his hand, Watson retrieved the gun, and fired twice in self-defense. In 2 folders. |
