Watson was accused of the murder of Sam Hall. On October 15, 1929, Watson shot Hall twice with a shotgun on land subject to Hall's life estate. Watson was Hall's son-in-law by wife, Lorene. After Watson used Hall's mules the day before, they were a little beat up around the mouth. Hall threatened Watson's life and cursed him. Watson secured a shotgun, and returned to picking cotton. Hall advanced on Watson with something in his hand, Watson retrieved the gun, and fired twice in self-defense. In 2 folders.

Victim: Will Thomas. Will Thomas, rode up to the home of the father of witness Maddie Cash and her sister who at the time were being visited by Buford Brandon and Van Robertson. After Brandon said to Maddie Cash not to go out to Thomas, Thomas Drew his pistol and shot at Brandon twice. Brandon drew his pistol and fired 5 times killing Thomas. Incomplete case file. Cox, night policeman of Humboldt, killed Carl Ladd and Gaston Croom after they attempted to run him over. Cox thought a car, driven by Ladd, matched the description of a stolen car, and tried to stop the vehicle speeding down Main Street. The car swerved to hit Cox, missed, and turned around tried again, left and came back to try a third time. Cox attempted to shoot out a tire, but missed and hit Ladd. The bullet passed through Ladd and lodged in Croom, killing the later instantly. Ladd died in the road.

William McBee was put on trial for murder but charged with voluntary manslaughter. He shot through a door during an argument and killed Sally Clayton. He claims that when she slammed a door the gun accidentally went off and fired through the door. Sally Clayton did not die instantly and William McBee did take her to the hospital.

Chandler was accused of stabbing the victim, W.A. Campbell, with a knife over a gambling dispute. Campbell later died at a hospital after contracting Meningitis. Chandler argued it was self-defense. Chadler was found guilty and sentenced to seven years in the State Agricultural and Training School at Nashville.
